Hi New couple here :) I finally got permission from my better half in the Philippines to start our K-1 journey.

I think I have a pretty good grasp of the initial filing requirements, my fiancee has a question that had me stumped, tried searching both here in the Philippine thread and the K-1 thread but didn't see anything about our situation.

"Can my fiancee take a job offer outside of the Philippines during the K-1 approval process? She's a singer in a band and they might get a chance to work overseas while waiting for the K-1 to get approved. She already worked in Japan for 6 months, so we know she'll have to get the Japanese police clearance."

Thanks in advance.

It shouldn't be a problem. She will have to return home for the medical and interview. She would also need to bring any new additional police clearance, but as long as she returns to pay the visa fee, then schedule everything after that, it shouldn't be a problem. It might impact scheduling (as she might be out of the country when the petition is approved, so it could slow your process) but as long as she returns home and has the proper documentation, I don't see any impact.

Good luck!

Gary, While we were in the K-1 process, my wife joined me in Sinapore and Malaysia a few times. I was there working on a couple of projects. Even though these trips were a vacation instead of working as your fiance will be, i do not think these trips should be a problem. My fiance took 3 to 4 trips out of the Philippines during that time and it did not cause any problems during my fiance's interview.

Thanks for the info everyone! Sounds about right to me too. I'd prefer she stay back and maybe take a course to help her employment prospects when she gets here. She does have a HRM degree, but from what I heard there wasn't much management training, sounded more like training to be a maid or waitress! Although I'm kind of happy she did since I met her while she was doing "OJT" at Padis Point!

You might want to consider the terms of the employment contract that she'll sign for the overseas job.

You don't want her breaching that contract once the K1 pushes thru.
