How long will NOA2 take?

I received notice from the USCIS that my application was recieved and "started" processing on September 14th 2012 from the California Service Center. Does anybody know how long is normal for waiting because I am still waiting?

Also, what happens once they approve? Do you just get a notice in the mail or what does my fiance in Brazil need to do? Does she get notified too?

Please change your timeline data to say California. That helps visajourney with data. Currently California is at a standstill. Many people have now been waiting around 8 months. California say they are processing July 18th still. I think we have many more weeks of waiting unless we get lucky.

APPROVED!!!!! YAY YAY YAY!!!!!

We've been waiting 8 months with CSC and still no NOA2.

The petitioner is the one who will receive the NOA2. You can set yourself up to get alerts from the USCIS website about when anything changes with you case. You can set up a text and e-mail alert so my fiancé, as he is in the US, gets texts and I get e-mails. Well, hopefully we will at some time.

Igor's list here tells you the most recent NOA2s from CSC. It's still a bit disheartening at the moment but it doesn't depend on people completing their timeline.
