K-1 Question for details of how we met

On the K-1 petition where the form asks you to write down the details of how you met, are they simply looking for a straight forward statement such as "my fiancé met on xx/xx/xx when I was studying abroad in Costa Rica and we started dating on xx/xx/xx and when I went back to visit for a few weeks we decided we wanted to get married?" How much detail should I be including? Are they interested in our entire love story or just the factual information? What have other people done?

Just something that establishes when (date) and how (place and circumstances) you met. Make it simple. The space given should suffice. What you wrote is enough.

NO, they only want to hear about how you met.......in person within the last two years. Just the one meeting, not the realationship....that's why that box is so small. We met in person on DATE and WHERE.

They are not interested in our love stories just the cirucumstances and date of you meeting within two years. "I met my fiancé on xx/xx/xx when I was studying abroad in Costa Rica and we started dating on xx/xx/xx" should be enough.

It is not where I breathe but where I love that I live.

That's plenty.

How much detail should I be including?

Evidence to back up the meeting.

Are they interested in our entire love story or just the factual information?

No, that's for the interview.

What have other people done?

Yes, that's what we did. Two sentences max.

Just include enough to fit in the box. Have exact dates and back it up with your proof of meeting.

You CAN include more, but they will use that information at the embassy interview. Meaning they will ask your fiance the details of your meeting if you decide to include it.

I would add a page and go into detail... you can't go too much but you can go to little and get an RFE. Better safe than sorry.

As long as you say specifically where and when then its not too little. Trust me if you add more those details WILL be brought up at the interview. The CO spent a good 10 min asking my fiance to describe everything that was written in my 1 page answer to question 18.

For the initial petition to be approved they just need to know you met within the last 2 years with the proof you provide. USCIS doesnt care about the details, just the embassy. So although too much wont hurt the petition, it will come up at the interview which could make it a bit more difficult.

You won't get an RFE if you answer correctly and include the required evidence. People get RFEs because they don't include what the instructions tell them to or they filled out the form incorrectly.
