Im the petitioner and I received the letter with my Fiances case number which starts with DBL for Dublin IR and it also states that he will be going threw the Dublin embassy and has the address for the Dublin embassy on it . This is the place he needs to do his interview at and such as he lives in Northern Ireland and only holds his Irish passport , he does not have a British passport... He received his letter and at the top it has this address

Immigrant Visa Branch

United States Embassy

24 GROSVENOR SQUARE

LONDON WlK 6AH

Theres no mention of the Dublin Embassy on hear at all , why is he being sent things from the London Embassy , also it says to All fiance (e) and K3/4 visa applicants must each pay a fee of $240 prior to their interview.

Please contact the Operator Assisted Information Service on 09042 4S0l00 (calls cost

£1.23/min) from BT land lines; some mobile and network providers may charge more. Payment is

by credit or debit card - Visa, MasterCard or American Express; we do not accept Visa

Electron or Maestro cards.

Thats also the phone number to the London embassy . Is this a standard process or does it look like someone has goofed? I also plan on contacting the NVC and both embassies .

Call the London embassy and ask why. Is it because the Dublin embassy does not process K-1 visas? Check with both embassies' websites to see what consular services each provides.

Hope you posted this in the UK subforum to get some specific answers & experiences. Best of luck!

I don't know too much about this, but Northern Ireland is part of the UK and he is resident in Northern Ireland, therefore he is supposed to interview in London. It makes no difference what country his passport is from.

He has duel citizenship but only applied for his Irish passport and since its Northern Ireland some of the people there can still claim Irish Citizenship , hence the reason for going threw the Dublin Embassy , I do plan to contact the embassy and see what the issue is , The letter I got stated he would interview and should be going threw Dublin Ireland it has the address for it and everything . But his letter is posted from the London embassy so very confused. Just thought maybe this was something another had encountered . I hate to double post this in another forum wasn't sure where to post ... But ill wait a few hours and then go to that forum and ask unless someone thinks the thread should just be moved?

Im pretty sure the Dublin IR one does process K1 cause we have checked with there consulate info and my letter said he was to post from the Dublin Ireland one also has the medical info on there to . Just confusing when you get contradicting info from your own government *sigh* but im not surprised, the only other thing I can figure is maybe this is just standard and they send it out from London? Or maybe there confused themselves being as he lives in NI but is also a duel citzen and he should be able to go threw the Dublin embassy I would think being as hes an Irish Citizen . I hope he dosnt have to go threw London cause the cost for him to travel there not once but even twice (medical and interview) plus a hotel room and also the fact he has no British Passport , I doubt if he can use his Irish passport at the British Consulate in London ... Frustrating....

It doesn'tt matter what passport beneficiary holds whatsoever, it matters where they reside . I have polish passport, but as i live in UK I go through London Embassy. It does look like you have chosen Dublin consulate to go through originally (right?) and per your case number ref. it seems that NVC meant to send it to Dublin indeed. I'd call NVC and find out what's happening.

It is not where I breathe but where I love that I live.

Yeah we thought with him being a duel citizen he could go through Dublin , I bet that is the issue we put Dublin down and so that is why I got the Dublin number on my end and he got sent the paper work threw London. He emailed London Embassy after calling them and they gave him a ref number to use in the email. I will defo call NVC , wonder what our chances would be in trying to request the Dublin Embassy ? We are thinking that Dublin got it and refused it and sent it to London. Wish we had known that , would have saved us the trouble and confusion. Ah well live and learn .

Also will he have to get his British passport now ? Or will his Irish one be fine?

I believe beneficiary can use consulate in the country of residence so thats possibly what happened.

He won't need to get british passport to be able to interview in London.
