London noa2 to interview timelines?

We have been waiting 181 days for NOA2. I was definitely expecting it before now. We are trying t plan out our summer. We have commitments that we want him to be at this coming end of may. ( my sisters giving birth, brothers and nephews college /kindergarten graduation etc. ). We were hoping his k1 would be through by then, so he wouldn't have to buy two plane tickets. Is this completely unrealistic? If its through, we would def have our wedding in may as well. But obviously if his visa isn't through , he will come for the other events, then go back for interview. I am hoping he can get his medical done before then def, so when he goes back after the visit. It will just be the interview and he can hurry and get back here.

Someone mentioned putting a may wedding date on the cover sheet to see if it will help expedite this process after noa2--is this true? If so, Is 60-70 days reasonable? He already has all docs ready and can go to medical at the drop of a hat.

If we know the lnd case # , can we go ahead and schedule/attend a medical before london has technically received the case??

Thirdly, Anyone ever heard of pushing an interview date back?? Were worried if the interview falls exactly during his u.s. trip , (too late for visa to be issued in time). Could we push interview back a few weeks to allow him to get home?

I'd say you have a very, very slim chance of a May wedding. Check my timeline. I'm hoping for a late April interview date but i don't know if we'll even get that.

We put 21st April for the wedding date on our cover letter when we sent packet 3 back. Who knows if it works? I hope so.

I believe you can do the medical as soon as you have got the LND number but where will the embassy put the medical results if they do not have your file. I was scared they would be lost so didn't do that.

It's okay. It can be a difficult site to navigate at first.

You can get a medical pretty much the next day if you want. They had lots of close dates when i booked mine. That's not the problem, It's the waiting after sending packet 3 back to the embassy. :bonk:

you should have just put unknown due to visa for the wedding date.

over 150 days is a long time. are there any kids/divorces involved?

when you send your NOA2 forms back you write a cover letter where you can asked for your interview to be a certain week. it took me about 50 days between NOA2 to Interview. ask for an early start time.

make sure he brings NOA2 with him when he flys to the US as he may need to show it to immigration, and when they ask him why he is visiting he should tell them he is visiting his fiance. DON'T LIE!

No kids, divorces, criminal records, etc. clean cut case.

So should i send the docs and ds2001 at the same time? (Inlcuding the cover letter obv)

So did u put a particular wedding date on your cover letter. ? Or just request to have interview certain week? Are they going to laugh if i ask for a first week of may date?

We just got noa2 today and as soon as its in london., he already has all docs in hand.he can schedule medical the next day and send in docs immediately.

Part of the presssing reason is a couple of my best friends will be in china all summer. And if we dnt have our weddingby end ofmay, they wont be able to attend, etc.

so ideally wed like to nterview beginning may, get him here. Mid-may, and marry end of may.

Check out my timeline. We did everything as quick as possible. It was 3 1/2 months from our NOA2 to interview. My fiancé had his medical before we got the letter from London and we had all of our docs ready. We did out an April wedding day on the cover letter, but not sure if it helped or not.

The other option is to push back our date , but either way fiance still is gonna come for a visit during may/june because of other events, family vacation, family graduations, birthdays etc. so if we cant get that early of a date , we would prefer the interview be more like in july. Alternatively could we request a later date for interview, so to not interfere with our holiday?

I don't think you have a chance for a May interview because your file hasn't even made it to London yet. There's too many other people also waiting whose applications/medical results are already there. You can always beg in your cover letter and say He will take any cancellation on short notice. That works for people who live near London, but getting there from Scotland on one day's notice might be difficult and expensive.

Yes, you can delay the interview by not sending back the DS-2001 form that let's them know you are ready. Hold off sending that until he's actually available to interview.

Okay, now I'm going to say something you you aren't going to like. I'm offering it because you are very young and I'm so old that I've got a bigger picture of life and what's important. David does not have to be at your nephew's birthday or cousin's graduation. Your friends going to China don't have to see you marry. Getting yourself all worked up over other people's dates is wasted emotion. And consider the cost. He has to get to London twice for immigration. He has a 200+ pound medical fee, $240 visa fee, $1000 ticket to move here, extra fees to ship his stuff, and $1070 fee for greencard application. And add on another $1000 to come over for a birthday or graduation for your relatives? If you've got tons of money, then sure, spend it. But if not, then consider all the expenses facing you and how many months he won't be able to work after he arrives. Marrying someone from another country means some sacrifices of things you might pull off easily if you married the boy next door. Think about it. I offer this in the kindest way and don't mean to hurt your feelings or burst your happy bubble.

I was simply asking about may and how realistic it was. My fiance takes last minute flights to London all the time, so its not that hard.

I am 30 years old, so its not like im some 18-year old and I have a very good grasp of whats important in life. I obviously understand David doesn't have to be at any of those events. and it is important to me (and them) that my best friends can attend my wedding. Friends and family ARE whats important in life. Money isn't particularly an issue and you shouldn't assume it is. I'm fully aware of the costs of green card, plane tickets, etc I'm not just going into this blindly, i'm marrying hte guy, I've done some research obviously. Just because i'm marrying someone from another country by no means should mean that he can't come over for a visit? Even if the visa isn't through, he'll still come for the other events, and we'll just push back the wedding. You haven't heart my feelings and I don't really have a "happy bubble" to burst. Simply and plainly, you shouldn't just assume my situation, you know absolutely zero about my life. How dare you be so offensive to say im "young" and don't know whats important. I have values and my friends /family/quality time is WAYY more important than some extra $1000 will mean. ..... I'm in no way a naive person, and don't particularly appreciate being treated like one. I have never done this process before and I am in a predicament at this point, and am purely trying to explore the best solution.

You obviously have it all together. I was only offering something to think about because there are so very, very many on VJ who have no idea what's coming up. We don't know each person's details or immigration knowledge, so it was merely a devil's advocate general thing to throw out there for consideration. Apologies for upsetting you. I promise never to bother you again with a reply.

I don't at all mind people offering advice. , as I understand other people may know mire on this topic than I do. . I am far from perfect. . the difference between your post and everyone else's responses is that your was saturated with disdain. making smart attitude remarks like "i hate to burst your happy bubble " are unnecessary and disrespectful. I don't have any problem with you and you can feel free to comment on anything. you should just treat people well and not be so pompous.

To be honest, I've read a lot of Nich's replies as someone who's been through this with her partner and her advice has been invaluable. I also know from experience on these boards (and being attacked for having a particular point of view in the Rant thread) that tone isn't always clear from a written post. In other words - I don't think Nich is being disdainful, she's trying to make sure you have all your bases covered like she's advised me to when I first came to these boards.

Hi there

My timeline from NOA2 to interview was about 3 months - I don't know how London is doing at the moment, but I think Nich is right that it's not likely that you'll make it, but it's always worth trying and seeing if a request on your cover letter helps.

Also would like to add that I've been around the board for a few years now, and Nich-Nick has provided invaluable advice to me and a lot of others - when you comment about wanting to know more about the process and not having done the process before, you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone on the UK boards who knows more than her (as she's walked it herself and helped a lot of others through it too), and I believe that's the spirit in which she offered her advice.

Good luck with your journey!

L
