Lame affidavit from friend

Hello guys,

I realized that the affidavit i got written by my friend is pretty lame. All it says is that he knows me for over 10 years and then he confirmed that I and my wife are married.

Its basically 4 sentences total...but its the best I could come up with the limited time I had. I am wondering if it was even worth sending in...

Any thoughts on this?

You only need affidavits if you don't have enough evidence spanning 2 years. If you have enough don't use it, if you wanna use it anyways go ahead. An affidavit doesn't have to be some magical amazing story written Its just a letter saying hey I know this guy and I know hes married to this person.

Why I say this?

This is a beer-favor. What he's written tells me you not give up enough beer for the favor.

Seriously. Inky is right. it does not have be something lengthy. It should basically say I know him and his marital status and it appears to be in good faith...of course not in exact words.

These things are basicly a waste of time becuase anyone can write anything about any subjject but it doesnt mean it true. Even you think what was written is lame. Try being the person that has to use it to make a decision.

We need humor sometimes. Good job. But to answer the OP, affidavits don't have to be elaborate. The person just has to say they know you are married to your spouse.

We probably have more than enough evidence but my wife still wants to include a couple of affidavits anyway.

She seems to think that it needs to be notarized. I didn't see anything on the USCIS website about it.

Can anybody confirm this one way or another?

Affidavits are suggested as evidence only if the other evidence is thin. If your other evidence is sufficient, no need to include affidavits.

Notarization isn't required, but anyone who submits an affidavit should include complete contact information for him/herself.

This advice came from a very sharp immigration attorney when we were at your stage.
