Hi everyone. Let me explain my dilemma. i am an american citizen married to a Ghanaian national. so far our visa process has gone very smoothly except for financial support. up until last month I was working on a part time basis and was exempt from filing taxes. i recently became full time and make in excess of the base amount to sponsor my husband on my own. Today my husband had his 3rd embassy interview appointment to present my updated AOS and all the proof that i am emplyed and earning a substantial income. The consular refused to accept the AOS because it was a scaaned copy ansd she also told my husband she is refusing to consider my new income because I havent been working long enough at my new position. she is insisting on a joint sponsor. i dont know anyone who makes enough money to joint sponsor with me. i dont know what to do. i dont think it is fair that they wont accept my employment. i have contracts that state my job is secure for at least a year. she wouldnt even look at the contracts. any ideas out there for me? this is getting so frustrating. i havent seen my husband in almost 15 months.we cry over the phone so much because we love each other and need each other.

I get you say you don't know anyone. But how about a friend of a friend? Someone at your church you can ask to be a joint-sponsor? A former co-worker? A current colleague?

If the the CO will only accept a joint sponsor, why not find one to get your husband's visa approved? I think the back and forth is causing you unnecessary delays. I will go every length to find a joint sponsor.

Wait a few more months to prove your income is solid and stable.

Boggy, a joint-sponsor is a HUGE commitment.

I would laugh in someone's face if a "friend of a friend" asked me to be one.

I don't think waiting for a few months would make any difference. My husband has been working since November 2012, making approximately $2000 a month and we still need a joint sponsor, because he has no tax transcripts proving he is making $19000 a year. Unless she wants to wait until 2014, file her 2013 taxes and prove her income, she really needs to find a joint sponsor.

It's up to the discretion of the officer approving, however, it's based on CURRENT income.

You could have gotten a job in June and still wouldn't have taxes that show the full amount and still could get approved.

You can't FORCE someone to find a joint sponsor.

Once again, it's a huge commitment that no one should take lightly.

If they can't get one, then working longer is the ONLY option.

I am not forcing anyone to do anything. I am just saying that the officers are rather reluctant to consider just the CURRENT income, that's why they ask for the transcripts. At least that is the case in countries like Serbia, but I am guessing Ghana is not different. Maybe Canada is, I don't know...

Hi KDH, You're very correct and I understand clearly. A joint-sponsor is a huge commitment.

So OP have two options - wait unitl she makes enough on her own as you advice, or find a family member or someone close enough who will be willing & feel comfortable to shoulder that huge commitment with her. But I completely agree with you about the burden/responsibility of being a joint sponsor.
