Anyone had a home visit by Homeland security?

None of your comments were at all helpful, just judgmental. First you accuse her of being aligned with a terrorist group then you suggest her fiance is only after a green card? COME ON. I was the one who gave her the FOIA request info, which was actually helpful to her. I was not being warm and fuzzy in the least. DHS and CBP interview and debrief me every time I come back from visiting my fiance in his country - so what?? I am not doing anything wrong and have nothing to hide and they are just doing their jobs, by their own admission. She's never going to know why they came to her door. DHS will say their investigations are classified and not divulge. She can only do a FOIA request to try to glean info from consular officer notes from her fiance's interview. That's all.

For your information just because a terrorist group uses a religious phrase for their name or own benefit doesn't mean the Arabic phrase in and of itself is nefarious. For example: Ansar al-Dine means in Arabic "helpers of the religion". It has religious meaning long before some North African militants decided to co-opt it. You are out of your element posting here. While this is America and you are free to be as ignorant and bigoted as you want, people are equally free to call you out on said ignorance and bigotry.

:) you answered the question that has been bouncing around my head this past week to request the report he took down to assure the information was consistent with what was said during the interview, yea the whole guilty for wearing a scarf on your head stuff has got to stop with all due respect to those doing their job, there is no race, nationality or religion synonymous with the term terrorism.

asking someone outright if they are aligned with a group or if they know a name is associated with a group instead of insinuating, like it is a common knowledge, as I do not align myself with any groups , I am for my rights as a human being with free will and thought and anything that does not align with that I question.

It's like calling someone a crackhead for driving down the street where crack is sold

Whatevs- all the big time terrorist groups are openly on VJ, posting under said terrorist group names totally nonchalantly...

Good grief. If one wishes to be the big, bad VJ tough talker, it would probably help to have a goddam clue first.

Well if she does actually have something to hide then at least we know DHS is doing their jobs. Never seen any terrorists posting nonchalantly here. I thought they had enough of their own forums in dark corners of the web. But I don't much read the Religion & Politics section which could account for my lack of clues  .

Well, don't worry, there aren't any terrorists posting in P&R, either (despite the fertile imagination of certain anti-Palestinian/anti-Arab/anti-Muslim posters.)

"Victorious sect" is a reference to at least several Hadith. I wish Sofiyya was here to explain it more completely and professionally. But to the best of my knowledge, it basically says that Muslims should stick to their faith and obey the requirements of their religion until Judgment Day, no matter who tries to fight them, because they will be victorious in the end. It long predates any groups who have may have hijacked the phrase to try to give their unGodly behaviors some kind of religious justification.

Thanks for dropping knowledge as I am learning more everyday and I am sure when my fiance reads the post he would educate me to this as well that was my feeling of its meaning but did not have evidence of that to argue our friend James on that issue Alhamdu Allah for ilm.

James is a good guy. I'm sure he will back, and he would be the first to admit there are things he didn't know. There has been so much perversion of Arabic and Islamic terminology in Western media coverage of the War on Terror - a lot of people have been conditioned to be on their guard or suspicious or even fearful of many things because of these misunderstandings about Islam and cultural custom. Islamophobic pundits have led the way on this front, but the mainstream media often repeats their distortions and demonizations - for instance, look how it represents the meanings of "masjid," "jihad," "taquiyya," etc.

Anyways, it's always good when there's an opportunity to clear the air of these suspicions and share our collective knowledge. I hope I can learn something new every day.

Maybe it is just me but I can see where DHS would find your fiance's choice of a name for his store quite a red flag! Who or what is meant by "victorious sect"? Which sect? Victory over who? :help:

Why would her name on visa journey ever be a red flag????? Do you honestly think a terrorist would "out" themselves in a public forum? Take your ignorance and prejudice and go elsewhere. As someone else said, you are out of your element. It freakin' pisses me off to read ####### like this from people. mad.gif

I always read the screen name as Victoria Secret but that's my western mind thinking. For the longest time I thought the Arabs were giving the peace sign until I learned it meant V for victory.

I've never read on hear about a home visit at the USC's place without the beneficiary already being stateside and they're adjusting status. I'm miffed why they would be interested in the USC and make a home visit after the petition had been denied and expired. I've never heard of a home visit for reaffirming the petition after the fact either. I have to wonder why they be so interested in the petitioner and when and why they became a Muslim. Those are the only clues we have that they even hinted at.

I've read about home visits in the beneficiaries country before an interview and even multiple home visits to the beneficiary's but not the USC's. This is peculiar indeed as to why they would be more interested in the USC.

I seem to remember two VJ petitioners getting a home visit, because it is very unusual. And in one case, I remember it was before her SO's interview. Also I think Shonnie had a home visit (also a Stokes interview, a horrendously long time in AR limbo, and ultimately a denial.) But her case was also very unusual with some of the most red flags ever seen on VJ. Her husband was Pakistani, not MENA, but the other ones were MENA. Trying to search the archives....

One was Sussemadel I think, after her husband had arrived? They came at like 6 am?

OMG I remember something about that incident ! But I also seem to remember at least one case where investigators came to the petitioner's home while her SO was still overseas awaiting his interview. I couldn't find it in the archive... maybe it was from pre-2006 ? (when they rebooted VJ.)
