My girlfriend is a widowed Filipino. Her current Passport is in her maiden name. Can she use the maiden name instead of her married name when completing a fiancee visa application? The current system will require her to attend a class and pay a fee before she can change her current passport to her married name. Plus is is burdensome since it is on another island in the Philippines.

Is the class you are referring to is the CFO? If so wether she changes her maiden name or not on her passport she will still be required to attend that class/seminar and pay the fee before she leaves Philippines.. All people that leaves PI has to go through a seminar regardless of where in PI you live..

Yes, she can use her maiden name during the K1 process.

She has to have the following documents handy:

- husband's NSO Death Certificate

- their NSO Marriage Certificate

- latest CENOMAR (CENOMAR validity is within 6 MONTHS only)

The Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) is what you're referring to. It has nothing to do with her maiden nor married name because you guys are getting married in the US. Its mandatory that she attends it AFTER she receives her K1 visa because she won't be allowed to leave the country without the PDOS sticker on her passport. She can attend the seminars in Manila or Cebu.

correction...

The Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) is what you're referring to. In your case, it has nothing to do with her maiden nor previous married name, but it is mandatory that she attends AFTER she receives her K1 visa because she won't be allowed to leave the country without the PDOS sticker on her passport. She can attend the seminars in Manila or Cebu.

Assuming your fiancée renews her passport in her maiden name, she will have the option of completing the CFO seminar before her Embassy interview, and then getting the CFO sticker in her passport after she receives her visa.

1. There are no girlfriend visas

2. DO NOT let your FIANCEE find out about your girlfriend

3. The visa will be issued in the name exactly as in your FIANCEE's passport. If she does not like that name, then CHANGE IT in the passport before your FIANCEE goes for her FIANCEE visa interview.

Also you may want to be concerned that your fiancee has a married name. That means not only do you have a girlfriend and a fiancee, but she has a fiance and a husband! huh.gif
