Alllmmoossst 2 months gone!!!

A little update on our petition... we never received our NOA1 hardcopy. We know why... its because my Fiance's address (petitioner) cannot receive mail. We inserted a separate larger font, titled page explaining his physical address & mailing address as clearly as possible and to send all correspondence to the mailing address - and STILL, it didn't work. Ah well. He contacted USCIS on Tuesday and on Wednesday we received the e-mails/text notifications that our petition was touched! I don't know why, but its exciting to know that it has been touched and is in a pile somewhere! Wooooooo!

Any other March filer updates out there?!

No, we are still there:(

Good luck March Filers!

Good luck to us all!!))

Hi all, first post here!

Me and my fiancé received our NOA1 on March 28th, a week after the Texas SC receiving our application. We received an update on April 4th online saying alien number changed, so guessing this means someone looked at our application, and now like everyone else, we impatiently wait.

We got forwarded to VSC (as our ref number is EACXXXXX..) and were originally hoping to be Wed by Christmas, but it's looking unlikely with the processing time.. Still, anything can happen I suppose, there may be a surge of processing over the next few months, fingers crossed we get NOA2 by Sept and we'll be blessed!

Welcome to the group! We are hoping to be wed around the Holidays, too. We filed a few weeks before you, and I'm holding out hope. VJ predicts a decision for us in the first 2 weeks of September which - I think - should give us enough time to get our Visa in hand before the Holidays. But who the heck really knows, right? rolleyes.gif

I just glanced at my ticker... and realized we are 13days away from being at the 'half way point' for what VSC is giving as a timeframe for an approval dancin5hr.gif Yea, yea... I know its not likely... but I've got to celebrate something! content.gif

Hey there!

Yeah, from what I've read if we receive NOA2 mid-late Sept, and all the forms are returned ASAP, it should happen and the K1 visa should be in hand before Christmas, I really hope that works out for us all, it would be the best gift!

I'm visiting my fiancé in San Antonio TX on the 20th of this month, returning Aug 9th, so maximising the ESTA (as I'm just graduating from University, so have a lot of free time as all work is handed in next week), but I will be taking a letter from my part-time employer to say I have work commitments when I return, so hoping no further questions when I arrive in the states. It will be my 6th time visiting in 12 months, so I've been really lucky to go over so many times, but that's what love will do to you!

And almost at the halfway point? Nice! It's definitely good to keep focused and positive on these things, especially as the wait time for NOA2 appears to be so vague and has stopped us being able to plan a wedding

We loooovvveeee San Antonio!!! Its actually quite a special place for my fiance and I. We met up there for our "first date" weekend (first time seeing each other after we had initially met in Las Vegas 7 weeks before). My fiance lived in Texas at the time and we would often head down to the Riverwalk and spend a weekend there... I miss it!! I hope you both enjoy your time together when you come in!

I'm pretty lucky as well, I have been able to see my fiance every 4-8weeks since we met. I've never been denied entry... but from time to time they give me the 3rd degree. Luckily, I have a lot of strong ties to Canada (I own my home, board my dog, have a full time and a part time job, my boss writes me a letter each and every time I cross, etc), so the Border Patrol really has no reason to suspect I'd just up and leave my life here. Its been an expensive 2.5yrs... but as you say - that's what love will do to you!

We've got some firm details on our wedding date, so hopefully everything pans out. I know around here pre-planning your wedding is considered to be the equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot - but I'm confident everything will work out. If for some reason it does not, we'll likely just go forward with the plans and then file for the CR1/IR1. We'd rather not spend more time apart after our wedding, but really, whats another 8-9months when we've got forever, right?

Hope we all get to celebrate sometime in September! Oh, and too bad my fiance isn't still in Texas - it would be great to meet up with fellow VJers!

Glad I'm not the only one with semi-firmed up wedding plans ahead of the game. I think I built myself enough time to go ahead with it. I used VSC's estimate, added 3 months for interview and then another 3 or so months of "insurance" time in case of delays.

Lol - you're definitely not alone. Although our venue and all of our vendors have guaranteed a date change (most within 6 months of the original date) I'd still like for everything to go as planned (doesn't everyonetongue.png ).

If you have your date planned for 5-6 months after your anticipated adjudication date, I'd venture to say you're safe. Right now we're around the 4 month mark! Some days it makes me nervous, others, not so much! I know in the end it will all work out exactly how its supposed to!

Same with us. The venue and venders we've signed contracts with so far have all said they have dealt with this type of situation before and that they would be completely accommodating to us if our date change, and we would not incur any extra cost.

I'm glad someone else is going the same route. Everywhere else I've basically been shunned for taking the risk to plan before the visa. I just don't want to courthouse it up and then plan a wedding from there. His family can't come twice, and "re-enacting" a wedding when you're already married just cheapens it for me. I want a real wedding, without already being legally married. I want one thing about this entire process to be traditional.

I understand... I never mentioned that we already had plans because I had read how some people on VJ freak out on other members for saying they've booked already. Honestly, I understand the risk. But I think its pretty obvious what most of the 'snags' in the process are. I just really don't foresee any complications with our petition. IE. I don't come from a country where fraudulent immigration occurs rampantly, no criminal record, no prior petitions, we have a very solid relationship and a lot of proof, he is gov. employed, etc, etc, etc. I trust most people who would book prior to receiving the visa would be smart enough to understand the risk and put in place a back-up plan, you know? I get that its probably not the best idea for everyone... but my fiance and I are adults and can make that decision for ourselves tongue.png

And we felt the same way. It was important for us to have a wedding with family and friends and because basically everyone is having to travel, we needed to book ahead and let everyone know!
