Ok...5 months tomorrow since the petition was filed. I know that it says on the uscis website the CSC is taking 5 1/2 months to process. Doing some reading here tells me different. Should I contact USCIS soon after the middle of next month comes? Can it hurt me? Is there someone there that answers the phone, looks up my file, then moves it to the bottom of the pile for just asking? Or, should I wait until the end of next month to contact them?

It won't hurt you. We have bugged them many times but without success. We are still waiting..........

They're slow, but they're not sadists. Can't hurt to call when you are outside of the timeframe stated on their own website, though they will likely tell you to check back in 60 days or something if you don't hear anything.

Usually they say to add 30 days on top of your normal processing time before they'll put in a service request for you.

It can't hurt you to call. I'd suggest you do, so the second time calling you know how to deal with them : ) Tell the first operator that your case is outside of normal processing time and ask to be transferred to a tier 2 operator.

Current realistic processing time is more than 5½ months however it won't hurt your case to call USCIS.

Thank you all for the replies. I'll split the difference and call at the end of March. :)

Do I just use the national number, or does the CSC have their own number?

The phone number should be on the NOA1, by where the service center is listed.
