i know this is really a stupid question but i just want to know if smoking can be detected during the x-ray but no signs and symptoms of tuberculosis and the chest xray result is negative. ??i am so anxious about this if i am going to admit that i am smoking cigarettes. i started smoking when i was in my teenage years and utill now i still do it and i know the fact that the assigned doctors will ask me if i smoke cigarettes.

Yes an x-ray can show the changes in your lungs from smoking.... why is it so much of a problem for you?? is smoking cigarettes illegal in your country?

I guess it depends onhow long you have been smoking... you say you started in your teenage years but you dont say how old you are now... if its only a few years there may be nothing to see if its 20 years them I am sure they will see the damage that smoking can cause....

I've been smoking since I was 12 and I'm now 46 and my xray was clear. Besides, as lizzy says, you don't get denied a visa just because you smoke. That would of wiped many of us out if that was the case.

niagaenola..no smoking is legal here in my country. i am 24 years old now. im just afraid that they will think bad of me cos i am lady and i smoke a cigarette and they will deny me because of this.

I've been smoking for 50 years, I'm 62 now and expect live many more years. Just being here and waiting is stresful enough without looking for reasons to be denied a visa.

If you think your lungs look bad think of what mine would look like. Don't you worry s/he who looks at the X-Rays knows the difference between tb and smokers lungs. Relax and enjoy the trip you will get grey hairs soon enough.

As stated, being a smoker is not a reason to deny the visa. If they ask if you smoke, say yes. End of story.

from a medical standpoint, unless there are long term damages from smoking (emphysema or lung cancer), there will be no way for them to find out if you smoke by chest xray or CT scan. However, there are certain blood tests that can pick up if you smoke.

As far as not letting you into the country becaseu of smoking, that wont happen (the tobacco companies would raise hell if they discriminated like that).
