polite asking about oath taking

My interview is march 11.

Im pretty confident about my case.

Never had ceiminal record, no arrest, same work, same address, no travel

There is a scheduled oath taking on march 12

I was wondering If I could ask the consul if I can join the next day's oath taking assuming she won't mention it to me.

It might depend on whether there's time to prepare your naturalization certificate. Unless the process is very efficient, I doubt that all of the internal paperwork, notifications, and mechanics could be achieved on a next-day basis. However, you can certainly ask.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

How or where do you find out if there's an oath scheduled?

From post decision activity, my status was updated as follows:

Oath ceremony

we placed your application in the oath scheduling que. We will send a notice when the ceremony is scheduled. If you move prior to the scheduled ceremony, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

My questions:

How long until my Oath is finally scheduled?

What are the chances to get the oath letter if I schedule an Infopass appt.?

Thank you very much

I know that in my area they do their oath taking at paramount theater in oakland.

I checked their website and they have schedule of events calendar, it shows they have oath taking for us citizens on march 12 and 26.. basically twice a month

In Seattle, they interview in the morning and take the oath in the afternoon. Chinook and I were in at 9:00 am and out at 3:00 pm and Chinook had her naturalization certificate in hand.

You're welcome, Marc. Glad I could help you. :star:

By the way, Chinook wouldn't let me park in the free secret parking spots across the street because she didn't want to dash across that wide and busy street. So, we had to pay for parking twice that day! We paid once when we arrived in the morning. We left there just before 10:00 a.m., right after Chinook's interview. We returned after lunch at about 12:45 p.m. and paid for parking a second time. We've spent a small fortune on parking there over the past few years, but fortunately that was the last time. :D

The following week, Chinook went downtown to the Social Security office and notified them of her new status. Then she walked over to a passport place and applied for a U.S. passport. She had to leave her naturalization certificate with the passport place. She received her passport and her naturalization certificate in the mail about three weeks later.

We'll definitely change my wife's SSN status and apply for her passport afterwards.

Very happy to hear the Seattle office does same day oath-taking...as well as issue certificates. Wonderful news!

Thanks again, Tahoma! You've helped us tremendously!

Wait.. tahoma, so did you asked to be sworn in the same day? Or they offered it?

My local office does not offer same day oath. But since theres an oath taking the next day, I was wondering if I could ask the IO if I can do my oath the next day.

Chinook didn't ask to be sworn in the same day. That's just the way they roll in Seattle. We found out about the same-day oath from the officer who interviewed Chinook. After Chinook's interview, the officer told us to come back at 1:00 p.m. for the oath ceremony.

I think every office handles the oath differently. Some offices offer same-day service. Others have you return a month later.

If I were in your shoes, I would definitely ask if you could be sworn in the following day. Good luck! :star:
