For k-1 do i need to get a passport ahead of time?

So, right now I'm waiting to get my NOA2 and I was going through some readings on how to setup an appointment interview whenever is my time, and there is a step where it says "enter passport number" and also says that she needs to bring a passport to the interview.

This might be a dumb question, but do I need to get her an Ecuadorian passport now, or is it something issue by the country consulate as part of the process.

I totally forgot about the passport part.

So if it is something I need to get right now on my own, please let me know because it doesn't say anything about "getting a passport" in the "K-1 steps and guides."

10/31/2012 - I-129F Sent
11/05/2012 - NOA1 (email/text)
11/08/2012 - NOA1 (paper)
05/10/2013 - NOA2 (paper) for some reason, they didn't text me this time.
05/17/2013 - NVC received package.
05/24/2013 - NVC Sent package to Ecuador embassy (I called and they told me that)
05/28/2013 - Received mail from NVC notifying they have send my package to Ecuador.
05/31/2013 - Ecuador Consulate mail package to my fiancée.(I've already scheduled the interview before this)
07/15/2013 - Visa approved!
11/30/2013 - POE (smooth process, she was done in 1 hr)
12/21/2013 - We got married!
12/24/2013 - Applied for SSN

03/27/2014 - Sent out AOS, EAD, and AP
04/03/2014 - Received NOA for all 3
04/08/2014 - Received appointment for Biometrics
04/30/2014 - Received RFE (need proof of income)
05/06/2014 - Did Biometrics appointment
05/07/2014 - Sent RFE
06/14/2014 - Received EAD/AP combo card
07/10/2014 - Notice of Potential Interview Waiver Case

02/23/2015 - Opened a Case Inquiry "Outside Normal Processing Time"

03/09/2015 - USCIS responded with a letter, and pretty much said "keep waiting, we'll get to you"

03/24/2015 - "Card was ordered to be produced"

04/03/2015 - Greencard in hand!

You absolutely need a passport.

They will take it and put the visa in it and get it back to you. Or whoever the beneficiary is, it wasn't clear in your post.

Just a passport. At the interview for the K-1 she will hand over her passport to them if she passes.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

she needs a valid passport that won't be expiring within (3 months?) of her interview date.

no, the U.S. consulate/embassy does not issue foreign passports.

if she receives the K-1, it will be slapped into her passport.

She needs to get a passport for herself. Just a passport.

She applies for a passport on her own. It is totally separate from the K-1 process and something you cannot do for her. She has never travelled outside her country... ever?

Getting the passport is fast, same day. I think it costs $75. But my then fiancee did it in Guayaquil, don't know how it is elsewhere.

We got a replacement in Quito--very easy and fast same day service.

2007-11-10.....Marriage in Ecuador

2008-01-11.....I-130 Sent

2008-04-28.....I-130 Approved

2008-05-02.....NVC Received

2008-08-20.....Case Complete at NVC

2008-10-14.....Interview--221g, asked to present joint sponsor inspite of NVC approval

2008-11-07.....Visa due to arrive. DHL truck delivering visa was robbed, Consulate required us to present I-864s and DS-230 again, had to get a new passport and other related documents

2008-11-14.....Presented all new documents in person at Consulate, visa printed same day

2008-11-25.....POE Atlanta

2008-12-26.....Green Card and 2nd Welcome Letter arrive

2010-09-02.....Date of NOA ROC 1-751

2010-12-13.....Approval of ROC

2011-01-12.....10 year Permanent Resident card arrived
