Hello fellow VJers,

I have been filling out the i-130 for my husband who lives in Egypt and I don't know what to put for the address he will be living once he gets the Visa.

Here's my situation:

I have been living in my parents' home in Washington while it is on short sale but it will be sold soon and I currently don't know where I will be living next. Right now I am in Utah with my parents because I came down with a virus and needed constant care. I might move back in with my best friend, whose husband is my husband's first cousin for a little bit when I go back to Washington but I'm not sure. So what address should I use for myself and where he will be living? Will it be a problem if the addresses are different?

They need to know where to send the greencard

May 24, 2011 NOA1

Sept 11, 2011 NOA2-took 19 days to get case number

Sept 30, 2011 NVC number and IIN received Friday-gotta wait till Monday

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Nov 30, 2011 Notified of Interview date

January 19, 2012 Interview- 240 days from NOA1

INTERVIEW RESULTS-APPROVED WITH 14 WEEKS AP--but he got his visa in 56 days!!!!!!

PLEASE EDIT YOUR TIMELINE IN YOUR PROFILE SO OTHERS CAN LEARN HOW LONG EACH STEP TAKES IN THIS PROCESS

The government is very slow about changing addresses. This is the most important card he will have in usa. And expensive to replace.

You can do an address change online or on the phone. I would probably use my friends address that I trust would mail it to me

May 24, 2011 NOA1

Sept 11, 2011 NOA2-took 19 days to get case number

You can change the address anytime. I moved during the visa process and USCIS changed the address very quickly. We have moved a couple times since starting the immigration process and never had an issue with USCIS updating. There is a form on their site to submit with any address changes. Not sure what the form is called though. Once you change the address in writing, you should call to follow up to make sure it's updated. You just started the process so you're looking at a good 9 months to a year before it finishes. Plenty of time to establish a new place of residence. Unless you move right after he arrives, you should be ok as far as getting the GC to the right place.

absolutely! can change it on the ds-230, again at the interview, and again at the POE with a CBP human.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
