Anyone here been get their medical done in Edmonton?

I have a few questions:

1) How long did it take to schedule the appointment? Two weeks, two days?

2) I think my fiancé is going to need his immunizations done. Would you recommend getting them done at the medical, or prior to it in order to bring in proof?

3) Anything else helpful you can think of? Parking, time to wait, friendliness, length of exam, &c?

Thanks!

definitely get the immunizations done before hand.. they will charge you extra if you get them done at the medical....

not sure if you have this already but here is the name of the doctor where you need to get the medical done in Edmonton..

Dr. H.S. Chana

9937 113th St

Edmonton, AB

780-488-2232

you might want to wait until later in the process to get the medical done, as some doctors require the interview letter before they will schedule you an appointment....

here is a link to the required immunizations for each age group....

http://www.panelphysicians.com/Pages/Immunizations.htm

if your fiancé does not already have proof of his/her immunizations I would highly recommend him/her getting antibody titer tests done.... he just needs to ask his/her doctor about them....

We can't get the interview letter until we send in the checklist, but according to my fiancé, having completed the medical is part of the checklist. Am I misinformed?

My fiancee just had her medical in NS this week. We are still waiting on our Packet 4 interview letter from the consulate. The checklist simply states that your medical has to be scheduled. The results of which are taken to the interview. The Dr. will courier the results to my fiancee and she takes them to the interview (hopefully soon). She was also given a full exam..meaning she had to strip and have a pelvic and breast exam..not very much fun when you aren't expecting that sort of thing. Just some things to be mindful of.

UPDATE for anyone in Edmonton: Called Dr. Chana's office this morning - his secretary has to be one of the loveliest ever. She told me the only thing they need is a letter (any letter) from the Consulate with Case Number to schedule the appointment.

They need immunization records as well; and they can provide the antibody titration test for those of us who do not have our records.

The cost of the exam is CAD 220 in either cash or certified check (NO personal checks).

Hope this helps Caladan!!!

Not sure how long it will take to get the results of the titres from that office, but it's something to consider if your interview is scheduled soon after the medical exam. My family Dr did mine and it took about a week to get the results back from the lab. Another thing to consider is whether they'll do them for free or if it's an extra cost.

Stacey, if worst comes to worst and you don't get the results in time, Vancouver will approve you but won't issue the visa until they get the results (you'd send them your passport and medical and they'd send back the passport with visa in it and the envelope for the POE). If that happens, bring to the interview proof that you went for your medical so they know you weren't lying when you sent back your checklist.
