Ok I need help because I have applied for my k-1 visa since July 27 2012 and I still have not received anything from USCIS I have been calling for 2 months and they have been telling me they are working on cases submitted July 17 2012 my case was sent to the California service center.

I have also heard it makes a difference because my husband is from Iraq so I can experience longer wait times? It has been almost 7 months and I have visited him 2 times since I applied for a k-1 visa.

Someone please help since USCIS isn't helping!!!

1. You have receive a notice (usually called NOA1) that tells you the petition has been received, correct?

2. Why are you writing "because my husband is from"?...K-1 and husband are not compatible. Which is it?

3. 6-7 months into a K-1 (if in fact you have the correct petition), is not unheard of and it seems you might be getting some news soon.

To be able to provide help, please be precise: Is your filing for a K-1? Have you received NOA1??

I had the same doubt as the previous poster too. It says in your profile that you have applied for a K1 visa. But you say you have your husband in Iraq. Did you apply for a marriage visa or a fiance visa?

In any case a lot of people do contact their Congressmen to ensure some movement in their applications. So, no harm in trying that.

Hey, sorry that the wait is so long. But I agree with the above, this is the normal wait.

What you can do is subscribe to updates on similar timelines (on the VJ website, go in timelines and look for it). When you get mails and mails and mails from VJ telling you that people with similar timelines as yours are approved, it will mean that you will hear from USCIS soon.

If when those emails stop (you'll get some for 2-3 weeks usually), you still haven't heard anything, call USCIS again, ask for a service request. Then, if this doesn't work, call your congressman.

Your fiancé being from Irak won't delay your petition by long. They could have to run additional background check, but your case is not sitting in a different pile just because your fiancé is from Irak. All the files are sitting patiently and happily together, regardless where the foreign fiancé is from, so this is not delaying your case.good.gif

Good luck in your visa journey!

*** Thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Case Progress subforum. ***

(Organizer hat off)

There's some imprecision in this thread.

The OP didn't file for a K-1 visa; she filed an I-129F petition which, when approved, qualifies the beneficiary to apply for a K-1 visa.

It's not an application, but rather the petition, that would go from USCIS to the NVC upon approval.

OP, you have a timeline, but your consulate shows as "Armenia," which is the default consulate when no one has entered sufficient information. Please change this to Iraq, if Iraq is correct.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
