Tax transcript for 2012

I e-filed my 2012 tax return yesterday. I was just wondering when the 2012 tax transcript is available to order on the website of IRS. Does anyone know?

Shortly after your refund is sent to you. I think it took them 2 weeks after that before my 2010 transcripts were ready. I am in the same boat as I can file the ROC February 26th, but one investment company will not get me my documents until February 15th. So if I file on the 15th and it takes 4 weeks to get the transcripts do I wait? I may send in a complete copy of the 2012 tax return and order a transcript as soon as I can as a just in case. That is an option you have too.

Good luck,

Dave

Just curious, but why would you want a tax transcript when you have your actual tax return that you can take use? (We have only used copies of the returns and my latest W-2.)

Can't even do your own taxes without a computer anymore, have to download both the tax forms and the instructions, least Adobe Reader X lets you save your forms and print out as many copies as you want.

How many forms do you have to fill out? For most, just that 1040 EZ or maybe the 1040A and a schedule A and/or a D. Just print out an extra copy, and have you and your wife sign it, just like you would send it into the IRS and attached your own copies of the W2's and maybe 1099's. Copy that to send in your originals, keep the original, maybe by then you can call for a transcript for your interview.

We had the same situation as you for filing the N-400 at the early part of the year. Worked for us. But also wasn't necessary for us as we already had three tax returns for the prior years, just wanted to be up to date to prevent an RFE.

Because people like my mother have massively thick tax returns and her transcript is only 4 or 5 pages? It also confirms what was actually submitted to the IRS.

Massively thick tax returns? I don't think they want the documents sent in or the additional forms--just the main one. I can't imagine having something that is more than 2 or 3 pages.

The tax transcripts seem to be very popular with folks on here who state "I don't have my old ones" and I want to say, "WHAT?!?!?!?! You are assuming financial responsibility for a complete extra person in your life and you can't even keep up with your own documents?" I am possibly incorrect but it seems weird to me.

BTW--on my tax returns (that were to be mailed to my then-fiance), I cut out with a blade my social security number and then post-it-noted over that "I am uncomfortable mailing my SS#--document holder can state this information in person." They didn't even blink an eye at that and he didn't have to recite at all.

If you send a return, they want the entire return, including all schedules and attachments, copies of w-2's, 1099's etc. With the transcripts, the entire return is condensed to a few pages, and it is proof the IRS actually received the return. Some unscrupulous people have been known to generate fake returns.

For Naturalization, they want either Certified IRS Copies of the Return, or Tax Transcripts only.

Easy for the USCIS to contact the IRS to learn if your tax returns are valid, faking a return is tantamount to being a complete idiot.

Do to delays with the IRS, first started accepting returns about two days ago, can really expect delays this year. But already told you how you can get started, you need to send in the last three years with marriage like 09, 10, and 11. Your IO may want to see the tax returns for 12, should have that for your interview.

It would be if the government agencies actually talked to each other. However, minus a court order, or your consent, whatever you file with the IRS is confidential.

That was the feeling I got as well. Personally, my tax return is very short, I think 4 pages, but my mother has a full time job and a side job as a consultant and a 1099 from every client, which is probably close to 30 a year. I have no idea if they want to see all that for 3 years, but we thought the tax transcript would be easier.

N-400, Part 3, box A shows your SS number, that is all they need to learn if you sent in a valid IRS form or not, one simple phone call.

My ex's crooked attorney got a court order for my tax transcripts and charged me an extra 300 bucks for that simple phone call with a court order where I could have gave them that for free. Tell me about privacy.

When my good wife hurt her knee, took her into emergency, stayed with her, but when the bill came in due to the privacy act, wasn't suppose to see that. When I was hit by that idiot kid, his insurance went back to the day I was born looking for per-conditions, have no idea how they knew I sprained my ankle playing football in high school, didn't even see a doctor about that. All of my medical records are now open to the public at the court house, so tell me about privacy again.

Living in a country loaded with hypocrites. Congress passed these laws, didn't want their wife's to learn they picked up some form of VD by playing around. We don't need leaders like this.
