2-years GC, marriage failed, what now?

Hi, I have read hundreds similar topics but I would feel more secure, if maybe someone could take a look at my exact situation:

I got married to the American citizen almost 2 years ago and got a temporary GC. I entered a marriage in a good faith but my husband have changed right after I sent my papers to the Immigration. From that moment, he started to think, that I HAVE to be with him and started to treat me very bad (every day was screaming at me, was finding irrational argumets to argue, calling me bad names, telling me to get out of the house - I have never even raise my voice to him, never argue back or do anything bad). I believe, that he just needed someone, that he could treat as a slave and was just waiting for me to send application for the GC, so the process will be on and I won`t be able to do nothing. Every day I had pray that he will stop screaming at me, but that never happened (actually was getting worst) and I packed and run away from him the next day, after I got the GC. I had always been nice to him, cooked dishes and keep the house clean and everything.

Since I left him, he is threating me that if I won`t come back to him, he will do everything, so I won`t get my permanent GC (Of course, he puts the situation otherwise and says that I just used him to get a GC and left him right after). He is saying that he will get annulment or my fault divorce.

I don`t have any prove that he was treating me bad and there is nobody who could confirm it (He had no friends and I didn`t even talk to anybody during my stay with him, as he was assaulting me of cheating - which I never did - I didn`t want to give him any more reason for argues, so we just hang out together).

I have only few months left until my 2-years GC will expire so my question is what do I do now? I know that I have to get divorce first to apply for conditions removal, but I don`t know where my husband is right now, so I can`t send him papers. My plan is to get a divorce, before he do any legal move. Maybe there is someone here, who had same situation and could guide me. What are the steps that I should take now? Thank you for your time reading this, I will appreciate every answer.

Study the ROC form, and file for divorce.

After you have receipt of filing, is safe to file the ROC.

Be prepared to handle an RFE for the divorce decree, so work out your calendar , aye?

Strongly suggest you file for divorce on Monday - you do not need to have his address to file.

Then file the ROC with a copy of the divorce filing receipt about 8 days before yer ROC deadline expires.

Good Luck !

I hope you have access to the documents needed, like financial stuff, and evidence you will need, since you already left the house?

Maybe you can get letters from family members, who can vouch that the marriage was "for real"

Sorry cant help, but I agree, file for a divorce, and use the filing receipt to file the ROC.

Not sure how long it takes in your states, or how much he may fight against the divorce.

Also remember - the person that files for divorce controls most of the process.
