NVC Filers - February 2013

My files (i have three petitions) just arrived to NVC yesterday.

I am planning to call them every other day to confirm their entry to the system to provide operator in NVC with emails and get back IIN.

My question is about the email that i might be asked for my children.

If someone petitioned for their kids under 3 years old, what email you have provided for their DS-3202?

My guess is, it should be fine to provide my wife's email,

however i want to hear from people who actually had this situation.

Thanks for sharing your experience, it is invaluable !

Question, my wife's original birth certificate has no raised seal or stamps. It's printed on a newsprint type material and when compared to a US birth certificate, looks fake. Should I write a letter explaining that its a real BC or just submit as is without explanation hoping the reviewer is smart enough to tell that it's original? I want to prepare myself ahead of time.

I had a similar problem - Ecuadorian police certificates are just printed off the computer, have no dates anywhere on them, and look easily forged. We went to a civil registry and got it notarized and apostilled, and I'm hoping that will be enough to prove it's the original. Can you do something similar maybe?

Apostille is difficult to do and a lot of unnecessary questions are answered. This isn't printed of computer. It's handwritten with the details. The paper itself has green government writings on it. Just not in English. Did you have the supervisor review it?

When we went, we talked to the gov't supervisor that was on shift at the time, and he said that people come through a lot for that reason (they ask why you need it before apostilling it to make sure it's a valid reason). And assume that any kind of writing that's not in English will be ignored, unless it's the document itself - then you'll have to get a translation. Did you ask anyone in the India regional forum? I'm sure SOMEONE has run into this problem before, and they could probably be more helpful than me.

Woot, great news!

For the timeline, NVC received is just like it sounds, the date that NVC received your case file. Unfortunately, there's no case number assigned date. Even though I suggested months and months ago in a thread in the Suggestions forum about re-updating the timeline. No one ever replied headbonk.gif

Uh yea they should really do that, esp since the time from NVC received to actually getting the case number can take weeks!

(and can you update me in your spreadsheet too? :D )

I called NVC last night around 11:30 New Hampshire time and spoke with a supervisor, after schmoozing her about the weather and having lived in near NH for several years. Basically, what I've gathered is that the papers arrive at the NVC. Someone enters "data" into a computer to indicate that the case is there. Then, it goes into the next pile for more "data" to be entered, which will eventually generate a case number. So I'm in data 2 pile right now, waiting for someone to see me.

Suggest you hit the India subforum here, and either search a bit using advanced search tool, or start a new topic.

apostilled documents in India are a big problem - I've read hundreds of posts about it over the years, thinking 'I'm so glad she's not in India!' and never paying attention to what the real solution was.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
