many of countries petition approving except pakistani....what the hell with pakistanies..........................all vermount service centre are sons of a ######...

I am sure you're aware that immigrants from Pakistan are usually required to go through additional administrative processing as well right? I believe it may be mandatory but someone else can let us know that for sure. I don't think cussing and losing your temper is going to help with your progress at all. No matter what, you have a long journey ahead so try to remain calm and have some patience.

I agree. it doesn't matter what way you file you have to meet in person. And lots of Muslim's and Christian's meet first. My husband is Muslim and I am Christian and we spent a week together before getting married. I don't think that is a valid reason for not meeting.

not that I am condoning the use of language, but some food for thought...maybe the reason (despite the posters claim that it is because they are of separate religions)they have not met is because the Pakistani cannot come to the US because he would need to get a visa, which is nearly impossible to do, and the American cannot go to Pakistan because she would need to get a visa to go there, and could potentially have some safety concerns especially depending on where he is from.

Nope, that figure includes the expedites and file abroads. Many of the normal people are waiting 3, 4, 5 + months and counting.

This doesn't apply to the OP.

He is at VSC, like me. But VSC is approving I-129f petitions faster than I-130 applications sent at the same time.

For example: I filed June 7, 2012. I'm still not approved. He filed August 12, 2012. Though, many July I-129f petitions have been approved. He might actually be adjudicated before me, though depending on whether or not VSC speeds up or slows down on I-130 apps.

I see. Thanks for the clarification. I wish you speedy approvals so you can be with your SO :)

OP, according to your timeline, your projected adjudication date is between February 16, 2013 and February 21, 2013.

As for everyone telling him he has to meet his fiancé: I agree that most cases require you to do so, however, mentioned in the I-129 instructional PDF, it can be overlooked if it goes against one's religious/cultural norms. I'm just saying he might be eligible to file and is not necessarily facing a denial just because he hasn't met.

Cheers!

US citizens get engaged and married to Pakistanis every day and have no problem meeting their significant others beforehand. There is an entire thread full of people here from Pakistan going through the process, many are not of the same religion. All have met the requirement of meeting within 2 years.

Yes, for I know of a USC lady that is living in Pakistan with her husband since his visa was denied a few years back.

Quite the attitude for someone who will only be denied for never having met his fiance. There are rules for a reason. There are no exceptions to the meeting rule based on religion, no matter what you think. I am a Christian, married to a Muslim. We met before marriage. My husband's brother is a US citizen married to a Muslim woman, she is from their home country, an arranged marriage. He went to his home country before the engagement to meet and to get to know his wife other before they married. Your excuse just doesn't fly. The fact that your petition hasn't been adjudicated isn't because you are from Pakistan, but because VSC is overwhelmed with cases from every country, it is slow no matter who you are and where you may be from, so stop trying to say it's discrimination, because it isn't. wow.gif

and to add to my reply. There is no way on Earth his family would have allowed our marriage unless we had met beforehand. It didn't matter to them that I am Christian. Muslim men marrying Christian women is allowed in Islam. What mattered to them was that I loved their son, that we were committed to each other, that I was a good person from a good family, that I believed in God, that we would take care of each other, and that I would promise to be patient with him when he arrived in the US while he adjusted to his new country and surroundings. The last part goes without saying, but I did assure them that I would take care of him no matter what. They were about to say good bye to their son, they are like any parents, concerned for his well being and wanted him to feel safe and loved. And I will say, that once he got here the adjustment for him came easily, he has settled in with no problems whatsoever. In fact I think it was more of an adjustment for me, I was used to being independent with my own space, He has been the one who has had to be patient with me rofl.gif

it does NOT go against what is acceptable. There are many many MANY Christian/Muslim couples here in visa journey, in The US, in Muslim countries, all over the world. My husband and I are one of those couples. He said they are not allowed to meet because of the difference in religion, and that is just not true. The USCIS, and the consulate are very aware of what is acceptable, and trust me, they know it is not against their religious beliefs.

That's true and I really don't think the government cares the reason for not meeting. Lots of us have had to make sacrifices to make this process happen. I have worked 7 days a week about 70 hours a week for over a year now. Just to save up enough money to go meet/marry my husband plus to save up for this process and to bring him here.

I am aware that this happens (myself for example) however when I met my fiance he was not living in Pakistan (if he was we never would have met) and additionally if you are of Pakistani origin, it is very easy to travel there as no visa is needed and you are likely familiar with the country etc

Also as a further note we are not of the same religion
