Hello Everyone, This is my first time posting here and I hope you can help me answer a question. Back in 2006 my husband applied for residency and was penalized for 10 yrs because he had been caught twice crossing illegally. He was out of the country for 1 year and returned form Mexico at the end of 2007. I keep hearing in the news that there might be an immigration reform soon. Because he was penalized, would he be able to ever get his papers in order since he is back in the US and didn't wait for his residency in Mexico? He doesn't have any criminal records or anything like that. I just want an idea of what to expect. Thanks

May 24, 2011 NOA1

Sept 11, 2011 NOA2-took 19 days to get case number

Sept 30, 2011 NVC number and IIN received Friday-gotta wait till Monday

Oct 13, 2011 Case Completed- 13 days from receiving case number Took 32 days from NOA2

Nov 30, 2011 Notified of Interview date

January 19, 2012 Interview- 240 days from NOA1

INTERVIEW RESULTS-APPROVED WITH 14 WEEKS AP--but he got his visa in 56 days!!!!!!

So he was caught twice trying to enter illegally, he tried for an immigrant visa and was denied, giving him a 10 year ban. And then he crossed over again?

Certianly speak to a lawyer, you have a VERY complicated case

May, 26, 2009

POE - June 20, 2009 Toronto - Atlanta, GA

Removal of Conditions
Filed - April 14, 2011
Biometrics - June 2, 2011 (early)
Approval - November 9, 2011
209 DAY TRIP TO REMOVE CONDITIONS

Citizenship

April 29, 2013 - NOA1 for petition received

September 10, 2013 Interview - decision could not be made.

April 15, 2014 APPROVED. Wait for oath ceremony

Waited...

September 29, 2015 - sent letter to senator.

October 16, 2015 - US Citizen

there is some talk of new legislation today, but don't expect anything till end of May.
