Timeline

My wife just called me telling me she just received a mail of an appointment letter for an interview at the uscis office in reno.I am very worried and nervous as i dont know what the interview is for.I thought after filing the form i-130 and waiting for 5 months,they will send her a mail telling her the petition have been approved or denied or may be request for a document but not rather an appointment letter for an interview.please is this normal?please does anyone here have a similar case as mine or have gone through this before?Please help me with this.........

It seems like it’s a new thing now that the Field Offices are adjudicating.

They don’t seem to be working out of the same manual as the Service Centres.

There are others on the board who have been told they’re getting interviews.

Please fill in your timeline so that there is better understanding of your situation. Have you already been through NVC?

Petitioner LPR upgraded to USC June 22, 2012
August 22, 2012: case complete
October 18, 2012: Interview (APPROVED)
October 26, 2012: Picked up visa from DHL (delay caused by Sandy)
December 15, 2012: POE Atlanta....................became USC July 2016!!!!

Mothers' Journey (My sister is the petitioner)

September 10, 2013: Sent I-130 (UPS next day service)

September 12, 2013: Received text to confirm delivery

September 16, 2013: Received NOA 1

March 22, 2014: Received NOA 2

April 8, 2014: File Received by NVC

May 26, 2015: Interview (approved)..........now LPR (delays caused by 2 RFE)

My best guess is that your casefile went from the lockbox to MSC to the local office

and THAT particular local office has local guidelines for local interviews, should an I-130 hit their office.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Please do you know what the interview will basically be about?my wife is nervous about it

They will mostly ask about your relationship.

It's a pointless interview.

Also, please confirm you haven't been involved in immigration or overstaying before?
