My fiance went for her physical at St. Luke's yesterday, and I wake up to the message "it is bad news, one doctor sees nothing wrong, and another one looks and says it is suspicious for TB, so she must go back next week for the aputum test, then we wait for 2 months for the results!!!

Does anyone know or have a guess of what percentage of the time, these tests prove to negative, as my fiance is only 29! Thoughts and opinions for a very "beaten down person" !!!!!!

i think they just have to let her take some medications incase she has it then check on her again if she's cleared before they approve. Might take months really. i think. Let her ask Saint Luke's how long it might take and things she needs to do or be prepared with. You'll get over these hurdles. Keep on being strong in your love for each other and keep praying. God bless your visa journey. :innocent:

What is the usually percent of the time, that the culture comes back negative..,.,any ideas, or opinions!

95% or higher. This is based upon St. Luke's reports to the Center of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

I wish I had bookmarked the CDC link. I'll try to find it.

Hang in there. More than likely, she won't have TB and you will only have to wait the two months for the culture to be completed. Then you can proceed with her interview.

Sputum tests will be done for the next week to two weeks I believe daily. She will then need to wait for the results which as one mentioned more time then not end up being negative. I do have one friend that his now wife here in the USA was one of the 5% that had TB. Then it is 6 months of medicine a few times weekly at SL's and then re-tested. All in all there is a larger percentage all they saw was a spot on her lung which many have in the RP.

I know first hand the call you received. Long story but I feel for you and her.

GOod luck and best wishes. Be strong!
