DOS is frustrating

Noah Lot's posts are rarely supportive. He might be working for a government agency (USCIS, DOS or something similar). I would recommend to everyone not to post on this site with an account containing a timeline. He does not have one either. This site has a huge privacy problem. You can nearly always be uniquely identified by your NOA1 date and beneficiary country. However so many people post sensitive information assuming they remain anonymous.

I'm of the opinion that the DATES DOS tells you -

are the dates that things are added to the casefile and LOGGED as added to the casefile.

DoS Hotline and the IV Unit share data - The IV unit would only have an update, viewable by DoS, for the work the IV Unit did.

Other dates, like 'when it hit the door' or 'when the packet was opened' - eh - IV unit doesn't care about those (IMO), so it's not something DoS would track.

Hang in there !

After having that discussion with one of the DOS employees last October , DOS only sees whatever embassy puts in the system.. If the embassy doesn't bother putting the updates in immediately (or accurately ), DOS will not be able to give any accurate updates...

I'm sorry Noah Lot, but what gives you the right to tell people what they can and cannot post on here??? As everyone on this site knows, this is a long and stressful process, which at times can be very frustrating. If Mary wants to vent about her particularly frustrating situation, then she should be allowed to do so without being shot down.

For the most part I love the sense of community on here, the feeling that we're all in this together. But people like you do nothing but add to the frustrations of those who are already at the end of their tethers. Kindly keep your unhelpful views to yourself.

Sorry for venting!

I agree with you. Everyone here has the right to vent if needed, and it seems a lot of times it is needed. If they don't like the venting, then they should close their membership and leave folks alone. Good for you in replying to this inconsiderate person. Regards, Alex.

My response exactly. Some people are so set in their views, and so unwilling to listen to the opinions of others, that it is a waste of time trying to reason with them.

Patsgal54, thanks for making that point eloquently! This site consists of helpful community of members and a great resource for may people around the world...but unfortunately, there are a handful on here who are very intolerant of accepting opposing viewpoints, and would try at all cost to drown out the least dissent/viewpoint while espousing their own views/opinions as the 'gosple'.

The immigration process is very long and hard, at times very frustrating so you would think other members would be understanding, encouraging and even be supportive when someone expresses a modicum of frustration with a seemingly unpredictable process.

Mary, please hang in there! Do not let anyone shut you down from expressing yourself. I wish you the very best of luck!

Thanks for everyone's replies! The visa was issued on the 16th!!! kicking.gif I didn't bother calling DOS again, as Stu Lee gave me a direct link to see what was going with the case:

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?eQs=o/iS8zDpeAKjMWCuebHqOw==

enter your app number they give you when you get it from the NVC and make sure you put immigrant (for K-1)

I hope this helps others. star_smile.gif
