Tanya just made her scrunchy face when I asked..Though she does make her own cottage cheese like substance by putting whole milk in a pan and letting it sit until it solidifies....ughh... :o

Yeah... with American milk, I imagine it takes MONTHS for it to solidify :-) But still, I read this and I read this... and I keep wondering where do people get these ideas about stuff (I mean, RUB wives). I've lived in Ukraine for quite a bit, my wife did too, but some of the stuff I hear is what I'd call "urban (more like rural) legends"...

I've known my wife for over three years and just found out last week that she had a goat when she was a kid and had to milk it every morning. Cool...

Yeah, so I was spot on with "rural legends" then :)

But in any case, it's a pretty big territory (FSU that is), lots of different cultures (just like in US)

we are preparing to schedule our interview at the Moscow embassy. we are just waiting for Elena and her daughter to receive their passports.. My son and I just applied for a Russian Visa (3 year), and we are all set. !

sometimes on Skype, we will show each other what we have in our refrigerator, ect.. and discuss food/ how to cook, ect..

These are fun times.. Words can not express how excited I am about our life together...

Even better because my son and her daughter are also very happy... :-)

Good thing that she didn't have an owl when she was an owlet. (This one was too rich not to jump on -- sorry to milk it, si man.) :)

I assume you mean "kefir"... Yep, its on our kitchen counter brewing as we speak... A daily chore for her is to strain the kefir and put it in the refrigerator. We were buying at the store at first for about $5 a liter... Then I ordered the kefir grains and she makes it herself. (Now we just need to own a cow) It's a little sour for me to drink plain, but we made blini and pancakes with it, and she used it to start making Tvorog (Russian Cottage Cheese).

I laugh at my 10 yr old daughter who has stayed with us twice since marrying... She is being introduced to all kinds of unusual foods and habits. She is being a good sport about it and really likes some of my wife's cooking... oh... and her accent too. :)

OK, after having read that more carefully... where is your wife from? This has to be rural thing...
