I had a touch on 10/30 and I called USCIS today to ask why that was - had no luck until today. I had no touch before (that I know of) or after.

I was told that a letter was mailed out to me on that date due to a customer inquiry/correspondence first sent by me.

Yet I never contacted the office besides an email which was returned stating that CSC no longer receives emails by the general public.

Does anyone have an idea what this could be about? Could it be because of my email?

The letter has not yet arrived and it's been a week.

You really cannot know until you receive something from CSC. Give it a few more days.

For future reference, USCIS would never be able to explain why you had a "touch". There are a variety of reasons for your file being touched, some inconsequential and some important. The contractors at the USCIS phone center would have no way of knowing what that is about.

I figured as much - since they're not even in CSC but because I don't know what the touch was for I called.

Chances are its a canned letter stating to allow more time. I went round and round with CSC about things 'supposedly' being mailed to me. Our case was touched at least a dozen times before NOA2, and most of them meant nothing more than some adjudicator had picked up the file and looked at it, but didn't necessarily do anything to it. Unless you are anticipating an RFE (which I know is sometimes difficult to gauge), I would not worry too much about it. On the other hand, congrats on the touch! I hope it means your approval is right around the corner!
