Thank you.

And yep it's crazy how you filed in Jan and you're still waiting for an interview date when i filed some two months after you and already landed an interview date.

I'm curious if different boroughs somehow have separate lines for processing / interviews... I've definitely been checking progress reports from various threads to see how fellow New Yorkers are doing, since it seems that the process here takes longer than most other places. I just filed today (Manhattan) and am bracing for 7-8 months, although now I'm secretly hoping to hear back as quickly as you did :-) Good luck!

It seems to me (or maybe that this just a coincidence) that applicants who are young (under 25) their applications seem to be processed much faster than others. I say this because both my cousins who are between 21-25, had their applications processed in 3 months (both from nyc). Now it looks like mine will do the same (fingers crossed) and im under 25 as well.

Congratulations! So happy for you!

Quick question: What evidence of bonafide marriage and continued co-inhabitation with your spouse did they ask you to bring to the interview? And did they ask for any of it?

Only asked for green card and passport.. They did ask him 2 times to spell my last name (but perhaps because it is Polish and a bit difficult)?

Interview passed!! We were waiting for an hour before being called, and my stomach was in knots! The interviewer was so kind and friendly! The questions asked were:

What is one right of freedom from the 1st amendment.

Name one branch or part of the government.

Who is in charge of the executive branch.

In what month do we vote for President?

If both the President and the Vice President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

Who signs bills to become laws?

All questions answered correctly so stopped there.

Reading test was Which state has the most people?

Writing test was something like California has the most people.

So relieved to be done with this part and can't wait for the oath ceremony to make it official. Good luck to everyone still waiting! We will be cheering you on and hoping to see lots of approvals this month and in the future!

congrats!!!!

Wow, that is unusual. Were they all applying from Brooklyn, or also other boroughs? I don't know what age could have to do with it... Maybe younger applicants tend to have quicker / easier background checks? I.e. fewer address changes, job changes, and in general less of a "background" to check? Even though I'm in my mid-20s, I had to add a full extra sheet listing employment and education in the last 5 years, including abroad, so if USCIS needs to look into everything in detail, that probably won't help with timing.

Off topic, but one of the things that actually amazed me about the N400 form is that they give you 5 rows to list jobs & education in the past 5 years, but 8 rows for children! I'm sure some applicants have large families, but I suspect more people need extra space for work/education history (especially in this economy) than for offspring :-)

Hi otta, I have to say, you hit the nail right on the head with your remark about the N-400 form. I had to chuckle myself when I saw 8 rows for kids.

I really don't think that age makes any difference when it comes to processing times. In all forums here applications from Brooklyn have much less waiting time than those from Manhattan. Since both boroughs share the interview location in Manhattan, one can only suspect that the Brooklyn office is faster at forwarding documents once fingerprints are done. Almost immediately after the Bio date, some applicants were scheduled for interviewing, some on the very same day. Once they are scheduled, the reviewing process should be complete. If it were really a question of age, more exception would be seen here on the rocky island side of the City. I would have thought that more applications are filed in Brooklyn than in Manhattan and therefore would have expected quiet the opposite.Who knows what criteria is applicable in the end.

Hi FilipgalRN,

May I ask how long between your interview day (when they told you that you are recommended for approval) and the day that your status is changed to In line for Oath online? 2 week? It's been 2 weeks since my interview date and I have yet to hear anything nor see my status online updated. It still showed "interview". Although i am told that I am recommended for approval, i am still getting a bit worried about all these. Wondering why it takes so long

For my case it took 2 days (after being approved in my interview) to have my status changed to in "que" for oath, then 10 days after that to be scheduled for my Oath ceremony. My husband who had a "pending" decision waited 10 days for his status to be changed to in "que" then another 4 days until his status changed to Oath scheduled and letter sent. The San Francisco office seems to be very efficient with processing N-400 applications (even the level 2 USCIS officer I spoke with was impressed) I was worried about my Husband's case so I called USCIS and spoke to a level 2 officer and found the Hubby's case was processed and was to be placed in que a day before it was updated online. You can try calling the USCIS to find out the status of your case as well. I'm sure yours will be coming soon too! smile.gif

Yep they both applied from BK.

And the back ground check could be true for younger applicants...but who knows.

I went to the USCIS office in Brooklyn to have my finger print done. Isn't that considered a USCIS office? Or are you talking about the office where one goes for their interview?

If you are talking about the latter, then you are correct cuz I just got my letter and my interview is scheduled for may 7th at the Jacob k jarvis federal building in the city.

Thats what I meant to say. The one where you get your fingerprinting done is called a field office. They are 2 different offices.
