I am in the process of copying and printing all the evidence for my I129F packet. I started writing on some of the printouts things like "copy of front and back of boarding pass for trip on XX/XX/XX date etc." I just realised maybe they dont like you writing on the actual copy of the evidence or is it ok? Should I do any annotations I want on post it notes instead. Am I nit picking over nothing!?

Sorry, for being so neurotic, you know how it is!!!

I'd vote for post-it notes for things where it's less obvious what it is, but include a run-down of everything included in the petition package listed in the cover letter.

Part One: The K-1 Visa Journey:

USCIS Receipt of I-129F: January 24, 2012 | Petition Approval: June 15, 2012 (No RFEs)
Interview: October 24, 2012 - Review | Visa Delivered: October 31, 2012

Part Two: Entry and Adjusting Status:

POE: November 18, 2012 (at SFO) - Review
Wedding: December 1, 2012 | Social Security: New cards received on December 7, 2012.
AOS Package (I-485/I-765/I-131) NOA1: February 19, 2013 | Biometrics Appt.: March 18, 2013
AP/EAD Approved: April 29, 2013 | Card Received: May 6, 2013 | AOS Interview Appt.: May 16, 2013 - Approved Review Card Received: May 24, 2013

Part Three: Removal of Conditions:

I'd have thought the cover letter would be enough, with a simple list detailing what everything is; they can read between the lines re: boarding passes and the like. But hey, if you want to include notes then yes, better to not write on the actual copies.

There's that smell again...

We've sailed through the entire process to citizenship with no RFE ever and only 2 interviews...one in London for the visa and one for citizenship. All of my submissions have been annotated with no complaints from USCIS so I think it's a brilliant idea. An example of what I did on the photocopies of evidence:

  • Highlight with yellow highlighter names, dates, cities or countries
  • Write in red fine point Sharpie what I was trying to show

.

Two credit card statements (one from each of us). Highlight my name and the one transaction dated Jan 4 that says Harrod's London. Red note at the bottom saying "Nich in Harrod's London Jan 4, 2007. Next page shows Nick at same location". Did same highlighting of Nick's name and Harrod's transaction on Jan 4 with note "Nick in Harrod's London Jan 4, 2007". That was to show we met in person.

I personally like to connect the dots for them. What are they supposed to do, read your whole credit card statement and wonder why you sent it? And I thought sticky notes might be pulled off and discarded and i think cover sheets are discarded. Nobody told me to do all the marking. It was just something I wanted to do to make it real easy for them to get through my application. It seemed to work fine and a very standard timeline for each process, so I don't think we were thrown in the "naughty pile" and delayed because of it.
