December Filers

Hi everyone! We got NOA1 on 31 December. At that time we were looking at the stats and feeling pretty pleased that we were California, as their processing times looked great (hah!). It was only last week that we started checking (in the hopes that we'd get an earlier-than-5-months adjudication) and the USCIS processing times site (still hasn't been updated since Feb 28???) and reading pretty much the entire internet has left us feeling really disheartened. Us December filers are a relatively small group, and it's so lovely to see that the early December filers have mostly got their NOA2s. But things have slowed down, and there are still a huge number of people in front of us, and Igor's list suggests that things have almost ground to a halt in terms of processing applications (it's mostly those who had April RFEs who are now getting processed, and I haven't seen many December ones coming through in the last couple of weeks).

I'm the alien fiancee, and having lost my job just before we got engaged, I decided to go down the contracting route to give me more flexibility (and I would have felt bad taking a permanent job knowing that I'd be leaving later this year). That's worked out really well, so I thought, on the basis of original processing times (with a bit of contingency added in - hey, I'm a project manager, what do you expect?) - I'll be going through the London embassy and their time frames are pretty consistent (3 months from NOA2 to interview), and I've got a part time contract until mid October. But I'm now thinking that that was a bad decision - the processing rates have gone up then down and I have no idea what is happening. :-(

Is there any way we can work out / get some indication of how long it's going to take from now? Or do we just have to sit back and wait and hope for the best?

That was me but I would not base my approval as a reference point for any other December filers as I had my case expedited.

Aww man, I was thisclose to celebrating because I saw a dec filer got approved! it just doesnt seem expedited to us since its been 5 months so everyone will think that its just vsc starting to work on dec filers. congratulations by the way! :) hope we get ours soon.

oh yeah def! :) My fiance called the call center yesterday and they said it could take up to 72 more days for an approval and they would approve October 1st now. Does someone else got information like that? Cause in the statistics I saw a lot from mid/end October who got their NOA2.

Woah thats likely 2.5months more waiting.. We'll definetely have an snwer around July? I think they are already working with end Oct filers but to think of it we're almost in our 5th month. I do hope there are already random December filers approved out there. :) thanks for the info btw.. :)

I was really shocked last night cause I didn't expect THAT! Almost 7 1/2 months only waiting for the NOA2?!?!? BUT he said UP to 72 more days so we should all be positive and hope for the best!

Just got an RFE request. Sucks. Hard copy will be coming in the mail pretty soon. This will delay things even further. Maaan :-(

Teddy-KGB, I got an RFE as well but don't worry about it, my friend, it's actually great that we are December filers who have gotten a response from the USCIS. There are people from October that haven't been processed yet! My NOA1 date is December 24 so I am a few days before yours. I got my second RFE notice (yes you will receive a second one) then I got my hard copy RFE in the mail on Tuesday May 7 (9 days later). I sent it out overnight shipping yesterday so they should have it by now.

According to RFE statistics here on VJ, it seems that I will have to wait about a week or two before I get my NOA2.

Anyways, my point is that the RFE is a good thing! That means you should have your NOA2 within the next 3 weeks hopefully :)

To follow up on some of the other RFE's (especially the people that got it in April) check out this topic:

Cheers!

Sincerely,
