Hi, VJ friends!

I saw one post yesterday about this matter but couldn't find it now. :( Anyway, on that post, the OP asked if it will create a mess during the interview when your U.S. citizen fiancee/fiance sent you money or cash gifts sometimes? Or lets say, support you financially? I've heard that the Embassy will mostly consider it as scamming and will result to visa denial.

I don't quite understand why other call it scamming. Because I think it's pretty normal for long distance couple.

Any experience about this?

Thanks for the answers! God bless us all. :)

in all your ways submit to Him,

Supporting your fiance or spouse during the process is a non-issue

It's more of a problem if it;s the other way around- the foreign beneficiary sending the US petitioner money, that can be seen as "paying for the visa"

This is country specific. As others have stated it's not a problem because it's a common occurrence for people from the Philippines to get money from their USC partners/spouses.

There are some other countries though were showing payments ARE a risk because of the visa scamming. Russia and Ukraine for example while not high on visa fraud they are high on relationship fraud (they don't want to move to the US, they just want USCs to pay their bills and pretend they're going through the process when they're not). The same can be said for MENA countries but they are high visa fraud as well as relationship fraud.

It's not a problem for Australia and the UK but I've noticed people from those countries don't tend to ask for, or get sent, support from their USC SO's. I earnt really well in Australia, there was no need for my fiance (now husband) to send me anything, but being the man he didn't want me to send him anything either, I just brought it with me when I immigrated.

In short - you're fine showing it.
