Do I have to go to my husbands interiew? The instructions on the NVC website says that the petitioner is not required to be there but some of the reviews said that the CO asked them to come back with the petitioner.

it's up to, you,i would go to the interview to give support and the officer will want to ask you some questions, just make sure you both have the same answers.of familys and each other.i belive you have a better chance of approval if both of you togather, show at the interview.

Its not a Requirement. But be sure everything is in place. Sure it looks good. But remember, not a reason for Denial if both parties are not present.

No, you are not asked or required to be at the consulate interview. It is an interview for the beneficiary, not for the petitioner. If you can be there, good for you, if not it's OK. Some consulates do not allow the petitioner. Most petitioner's don't attend. I have never heard of the CO asking for the beneficiary to return with the petitioner. It would think it is VERY rare for this to happen

Believe the reviews, and ignore anyone who's dealing with another consulate or embassy who tells you "not to worry -- no need for you to attend" or "it's OK if you don't attend." In many instances, that's perhaps the most irresponsible and genuinely perilous advice that anyone could ever provide on VisaJourney.

Also, people confuse "being allowed in the interview with the beneficiary" with "being on the consular premises during the interview." When the beneficiary hands your U.S. passport to the consul to show that you're on the premises, it could turn a borderline interview into a positive one or turn a sure refusal into a fighting chance.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

In Jamaica you are not allowed to go into the interview with the spouse, unless for some reason you are required to by the US Embassy. You will sit outside and wait while your spouse is going through the process. If you have everything in line, your spouse should be fine. They never asked my husband if I was there or not. That doesn't mean they won;t ask your spouse. I am just saying if you can go, but if you can't it will be ok. I personally have never heard, read or seen a denial for the spouse not being there for the interview.

Good Luck :)

Thanks for your reply! I did read that I would have to sit in the courtyard. I prepared a great package for my husband so they really should not be any issues. Keeping my fingers crossed :)

Thanks SweetieOne!The majority of the cases I read the beneficiary did go to the interview alone and its just a bad time for me to travel right now, Im in school and all my final exams are next week. I'm sure you know how I feel though, you want to do everything you can to ensure a successful interview and I would hate not to go and they request for my presence or anything like that but I will leave it in God's hands. I read your journey as well, I hope your husband gets what they need so he can get approved :)

Thanks, yes I do know how you feel!! I felt like taking a flight out to be there. With being a single working mom with 2 jobs, it can be difficult to get things organized on my end for traveling and $$ of course. I think it will be ok :). We are working on getting what we need for our blue slip appointment now. Needless to say I am very sad I will not being seeing my husband on Christmas. My one wish was for me to be with my husband and daughter in one place on Christmas day. Guess Jah has another plan. I have decided that my house will stay decorated and the tree will stay up until he arrives :star: :star: :star:
