I-134: Statements from Financial Institutions

Hi all,

I have two questions that are driving me bonkers about the i-134. Any insight would be deeply appreciated.

1) The i-134 instructions state that for financial institutions I need a "Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions with deposits, identifying the following details regarding the account: 1. Date account opened; 2. Total amount deposited for the past year; and 3. Present balance."

Does this mean that for the stocks, IRA and Roth IRA accounts I need to have a signed statement from an officer from those institutions? Or are they only referring to banks? I could get statements online, but signed letters for those would be difficult.

2) The i-134 section #7 says "I have on deposit in savings banks in the United States_____" That is tricky wording. I have a checking account and not a savings account at a bank. Is that not a "deposit in a savings bank?" Or am I to interpret this as "money I specifically have in a savings account as opposed to a checking account?"

Thank you in advance :-)

for the i-134, if your income meets the poverty limit by 125%, you do not need to fill out any of the asset information. Provide only if you are below the 125% poverty limit.

Thanks leishi. For my particular situation, I need to be adding the assets for extra security though.
