Expatriate Filing with No DCF Available

Hello VJers-

Apologies if this is answered elsewhere, but I can't find a recent thread on the topic.

We're still at the beginning of this process, so I want to make sure that I'm filling out everything correctly. I'm currently a resident expatriate with my husband in Morocco. They've discontinued DCF here, so we have to go through the Chicago lockbox. Should I use my mailing address abroad or should I use my current US forwarding address (my mother's home) as our mailing address? I suspect the latter, but I'd like confirmation before proceeding...

Also, do expatriate cases like these go to a particular processing center, or do they get assigned out randomly? The Vermont Center's in my hometown, and I have no idea if that would help, hurt, or never be allowed to happen.

Hi There!

We are also just starting our process (got delivery notification of our I-130 packet today), and I (the USC) live abroad with my husband in Ireland. We used our foreign mailing address, and only listed my parents' US address as the address where we intend to live once we're in the States. I've read somewhere on this forum that some of the packets filed from abroad are being expedited, so we crossed fingers and hoped that it would happen for us. Good luck on your journey!

I am a USC residing in Colombia and I used my Colombian address as my "current address" and my parents address in the US as my "permanent address." I filled out the g-1145 form and they informed me of the NOA1 through email (October 29). I just finally received the paper notification of the same thing a month later. I was actually surprised that it came in the mail as the mail is not that reliable in Colombia. There have been some changes recently so you will probably get sent to the National Benefits Center in Missouri. It seems like US Citizens residing abroad are not getting super-expedited anymore, but I am hoping to receive the NOA2 in 50-70 days which is the estimate based on the little bit of data that there is.
