Did they ask her for a copy of your CC and ID? When I contacted PAL, they told me that those requirements are only for users who purchased tickets through philippineairlines.com and not from third party websites. When people use someone else's credit card and make a fraudulent transaction, PAL has to make a refund to their credit card merchant account. If they reach a certain percentage of fraudulent transactions, PAL's merchant account will be closed. However, if the ticket is bought from a third party website, then even if the transaction is fraudulent, it won't count towards PAL's merchant account fraud rate. Most websites over here in US uses fraud analysis scoring to determine the probably of the transaction as being a fraudulent one. It's not 100% accurate, but this is why sometimes credit card transactions that you make are declined. Of course, this doesn't stop the ignorant staff at the airline counter to deny you boarding even if you purchase it through a third party website. The PAL manager that I talked to will send a confirmation email that my mom can take with her waiving the requirement of presenting a copy of the credit card used and photo ID. In my case, I can get a free ticket for opening citi credit cards. I can buy it through their rewards portal, thankyou.com so my credit cards won't show a charge at all.

I purchased my ticket through the PAL website for my fiancé and they never asked to see a copy of my credit card either. Has anyone actually HAD this happen? I know we've all HEARD about it happening in theory. But I've never had any problems, and I've purchased several tickets for my fiancé before she came here, all on PAL, from Manila to Cebu, Thailand, etc. And never had them ask to see that.
