Use Intending Immigrant assets as affidavit of support?

Hello all, I have been lurking and searching for a few days and I haven't been able to find a direct answer about this issue. Forgive me if I have missed something obvious.

I met my fiance while in school, but she graduated before me a year ago. We want to start the fiance visa process now since it takes quite some time to process everything and we do not want to prolong being so far apart for any reason if we can help it.

I want to know if my fiance can use a monetary sum of 300% to 500% the poverty line as an acceptable sign of assets for affidavit of support? I have also read the official I-864 instruction pdf from the government; it is unclear to me if we are able to do this since she is not yet my spouse.

I am currently a college student (US citizen) and I am trying to bring my fiance to the US to marry on a K-1 fiance visa. Unfortunately since I am a student my income is not steady. I have held internships and have made well over the poverty line for the last two years, and I will make a larger sum this year (I graduate in 2014). The internships are not connected and I will be at a different company this following year, I am not sure that I can use this as proof. Additionally, I receive financial aid to go to college (not 100% free), I also receive scholarships and take government (not private) loans. Will my debt affect the amount needed by the assets(if possible)?

However, my fiance is easily able to have 300% to 500% the poverty line in her account to use as proof, will this be enough? Is it not enough or will it not work period? I have read about a co-sponsor and would love to have one but there is no one in my family able to provide me any support at all, I make more than any person willing to sponsor me.

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

We are feeling very hopeless right now, and I am not sure what else we can do except wait another year when I will have a job, which will mean probably another two years until we can actually be together.

London allows this, fwiw.

I don't have the answer for you, but I suggest you prepare 2 I-134 sets - one just on you, then another set with you and her stuff.

If any possibility of you getting a co-sponser - a USCitizen or a permanent resident, I suggest making a 3rd set.

Then, on interview day, spread out all 3 sets with the Interviewing Officer, ask him to choose.

I agree with Darnell, a co-sponsor on hand would be a good option. Another one:

Is it important that you get a K1 fiance visa and marry in the USA? Getting married now and petitioning her for a CR-1 spousal visa may be easier, because then you are expected to co-mingle your resources, and could have the money in a joint account.
