Hello everybody,

I am currently a citizen in USA. My fiance is in Pakistan. He had his interview more than 7 months ago and we are still waiting to hear something from the embassy. I am very concern about the AP. I mean we have waited enough already. During his interview he was given a green slip and was told to wait for 6 months and call back after 6 months if u don't hear from us.I dont know what to do..i gave a call to the visa center here in the states and they could only tell me that status of the case and they said it is still in processing.I dont know how long it will take because i am student and i also work so its really hard for me to take time out and go to pakistan. I am planing to go this summer but i am hoping that he will get his visa before summer so we can come together. And one more question is it ok if i maary him before getting the visa. Please answer my questions..I am very confused!!

welcome to the AP club! there is a post called "New islamabad AP tracker" you might want to join that and talk to the others who are frequent visitors on there. Many Males from pakistan are put in AP for excessive period of times some get there visa after a year and others are still waiting.

If you marry your fiance it will result in one of 2 things.

1. Cancelation of your K1 visa application because you twi will not meet the qualification for k1 VISA any longer. you MUST be Single (not married) when your FIANCE enters the USA... yes this is a very difficult thing to understand and comprehend for out culture... beleive me i had many hours of discussions and unconfortable situations and questions to answer to my family and her family and had to make them understand. DO NOT RISK what your thinking!

2. You will have to beging the process all over again... yes that means you file for CR1 which is the differnt visa. He will be a green card holder as soon as he enters the United States. either way this will not help your case! Also i am sure you love your fiance but dont commit to being married... what happens if he is never able to get his visa? are you ready to leave your home and everythig to live in pakistan... think this over... so far i have seen about 4 girls in our community break an engagment after having to wait out the AP for over a year. Its a very difficult journey and experiance but you yourself have to make this judgement call.

If you have not heard anything yet still.... i suggest getting senators and congressment involved... they tend to be helpfull sometimes! Its better then getting no help at all. Besides that what was the reason given to your fiance of the AP process? did the interviewer show any concerns or ask to submit any additional documentation?

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry to hear about your current protracted AP issue with your fiance's impending K-1 visa approval.

Should you choose to get married before the issuance of your K-1 visa, your fiance would then not be eligible for the K-1 fiance visa. Rather, you would then have to start over on your visa journey and initiate a spousal visa petition.

Good luck on your visa journey.

i appreciate all the members who are replying to my post..in the first sn530 said to involve senators and congressman..please tell me more about that and how i can contact them because clearly it looks like you have experience what i am going through right now. There was no reason given to my fiance for AP. They didn't ask for any documentation at all. They just told him that he will have to wait. They took his passport as well. I am thankful that you are helping me. and one more thing...personally i know couples who have applied as a fiancee visa but ended up marrying each other before they got the visa.

These couples who got married before they got their K-1 visas didn't inform the embassy that they got married or their K-1 visas would have been cancelled. Do not even think about getting married in Pakistan. With a K-1 visa you must get married in the United States.

No please don't get married while awaiting your k1 to finish. It can result in visa fraud in the end if you use the k1 visa to enter the USA without stating you were married and you dont want a ban for life lingering or you dont want to start all over with a new application for cr1 and wait as long or longer for the process to finish.

Just contact your senator or congressman and see if they can help get information and keep it moving at the embassy. There are many of us waiting as long or longer than you have and its completely heartbreaking you can visit the thread for AP in Islamabad here

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/343005-new-islamabad-ap-tracker/ as sn530 suggested.

You can find your senator/congressman from a list from your state and county. Contact them tell them what you need and they will send a form for you to sign saying they have permission to contact the embassy on your behalf. They can either mail it, fax it or scan it to you for you to send back. Then stay in touch with them every month to see whats going on.

Good luck to you

I don't know how to get in touch with the congressman or the senator for my state..i live in New Jersey.

To find your Congressman, go to http://www.house.gov/ and click on "Find Your Representative"

To contact either one of your Senator's, go to http://www.senate.gov and click on "Senators" then click on the "Choose a State" drop down menu and select New Jersey.

These are your senators:

Lautenberg, Frank R. - (D - NJ) Class II

324 HART SENATE OFFICE BUILDING WASHINGTON DC 20510

(202) 224-3224

Web Form: www.lautenberg.senate.gov/contact/routing.cfm

Menendez, Robert - (D - NJ) Class I

528 HART SENATE OFFICE BUILDING WASHINGTON DC 20510

(202) 224-4744

Web Form: menendez.senate.gov/contact/

Go through there websites such as Lautenberg's website

http://lautenberg.senate.gov/services/casework1.cfm

this link you will notice that there is topics of what you need assistance with and one of the topics is "immigration" get in touch with them through that. Senators are usually a bit more proactive that is what i have noted.

Good luck!
