How Long for Interview in Amman?

hey there! welcome to our lil' comfy vj group! My husband and I filed k-3 and CR-1 and waited to see which was approved first. If you file CR-1, she will come here with her status already adjusted and have her greencard within a week of arriving. K-3 is also a good one but you have to adjust her status after she arrives and apply for other things as well. Mine came on CR-1 and it took almost exactly 1 year from the beginning of our process until he got his visa. Amman is very slow so be prepared to wait and be patient. I have seen all kinds of timelines (speaking of that, i think I have all of the steps in mine and how long they took). Some only take a few months and some take a few years. I wish you the best of luck on your journey and god speed to your process.

Icemountain...i DEFINITLY....would not file for a student visa at the same time, or even at all...im sure it could only result in bad things....The Consulars will look at it as though she will leave jordan and not come back....let us know what happens and what you decide...

Filed DCF in Jordan from 7-05 to 3-06, Approved for I-R1.

Immigration Free until 2008.

YEAH, I absolutely agree..DO NOT .. file for a student visa...it will only cause problems with your case...

take your time and research all of your options before making any decisions. That is the best advice I can give to you.

I also don't advise going the student visa route. They will look at her intended field of study and more importantly her intentions after she graduates. It should be the intention of a student visa applicant to return their country after graduation. If she was to disclose staying in the US then most likely they will deny the student visa....which only makes sense. Next they will look at her ability to pay for her education in the US. Depending on school/major that could be from $40K and up. ...remember the out of state tuition. Also she has to demonstrate a satisfactory result on the TOEFL. Back to the $$. Multiply the 40K by 4 for the 4 years it will take to graduate and we're talking $160K minimum. Next, they will look at who can fund this? If her family is wealthy then they will go on with the questioning. Let's say they can afford these expenses. They will say ok, you'll go to the US to study, you'll spend $100K for an education, and then come back to Jordan to work. She'll have to answer yes. That is if she can find a job. They will then look at it like this....you'll work in Jordan for what 250-400 JD per month. 5K JD per year. It will take you 30+ years to earn back what you spent on your education.

Depending on what you guys want (engagement or marriage) and if you wanted to start the process now, you could apply for the K1 as soon as possible pending her sending you all the documents from her end and you compling and sending them. If you wanted the CR1 or K3 then you would have to do the Ketib there and then start the process soon after.

I don't want to be the bearer or bad new but I think Amman is currently scheduling interviews for the second half of next year. I got my fiance visa approval from teh USCIS on April 6th and my interview was scheduled for February 27, 2007. They contacted us in September and moved it up to Oct 19th.

We are now in AP and not really sure how long its going to take. Amman is slow....very slow.

Good luck :star:

It's most likely security checks and a pretty standard thing for everyone to go through. Everyone has to go through some form of it but the length of time is different for everyone. They are basically processing his paperwork right.

You would think that those buffoons would do the right process from the get go and not put peoples lives and possibly hurt relationships because of their incompetence. This is one of the most backward and inhuman process I have ever heard of. It is too important and affects lives to be manged by jokers.

Well as hard as it is for me to say, I don't think any of it is intentional on the Embassies part. In person they have always been helpful and courteous. I can definitly say this process has put a strain our relationship at times but overcoming those obstacles has made us stronger. I think immigration will continue to get harder as the years go by,
