Bonafide marriage question

I am getting married to my fiance next month in his country abroad, and then we are going to begin the CR1 visa process. Because we are applying right away for a visa after the wedding, we won't have any proof of joint finances, property, or residences for I-130. We've been doing long-distance for the past 3 years. I tried going to my bank (Bank of America) to open a joint account so that I can deposit our wedding money into it, and they will not let me add his name to any account because he does not have a SS #. Is it possible to prove a bonafide marriage just from proof of a relationship (pictures, receipts, e-mails, letters, phone bills, etc.) rather than showing proof of joint ownership of some sort?

Thanks!

in order to add my husband to my bank account i used his ITIN number , matricula (consulate id) and his Mexican passport....

i dont know about the others as i am in the same situation... we have been together for 6 years and have a ton of photos and cards etc but only married for 8 months so we have very little joint ownership on things...

Many of us don't have joint ownership to show yet. If you've been together for 3 years you can include things like photos, chat logs, photos, phone bills etc. Do you have friends/family who will write affidavit letters? Do you have evidence from visiting each other? Flight ticket stubs? Itineraries? Hotels? Anything like that?

You don't need to have joint ownership on something. Not everyone owns something jointly. Send what you have, hopefully you kept some records over the past 3 years. I also use BOA, they wouldn't let me add my wife either :( Her bank let her add me here abroad though.

About the bank account question, I'm a UK citizen and my fiance and I opened a joint bank account with US Bank in August. I have a bank card, which I can use here in the UK (we are going to K1 route). Both our names are on the cheques and bank statement. Obviously, I don't have a SS number - I just showed my UK passport and UK/international driving licence fro ID proof. However, it may have been different in that we both went physically to the bank together as I was in the US at the time.

I'm under F2A category (spouse of LPR), to show bonafide and on-going marriage, we will show the following evidences:

- Money remittance slips (my hubby sends me money once a month)

- Our photos thru the years and wedding photos

- Skype logs, Skype screenshots, Emails, Whatsapp messages

Having a joint bank account or owning properties jointly is not mandatory because it's obvious that we are living separately.

Hope this helps. :innocent:

Thank you. I can definitely have some friends/family members write affidavit letters. We will have tons of wedding photos after our wedding, and I can show invitations to the wedding. I do have lots of other documents like what you've said such as airline tickets, photos, skype convos, etc. I wasn't sure because on the information about the bonafide marriage, the last option says "Any other relevant documentation to establish that there is an ongoing marital union." I just wasn't sure if the above mentioned (photos, phone bills, etc.) would fall under that category.

I look forward to starting my visa journey timeline in January!
