Hi All,

I'd deeply appreciate some insight on this. My fiance is a graduate student who has had several internships over the past 6 years while at college. They have been internships with monthly stipends to offset living and public transportation costs required for the internships.

Do these count as employment, and should we be listing them in the employment history section of the DS-230 part I?

Thank you all for any insight you can provide.

Warmly,

J

I would say they do, i did internships for quite a while, thought I didn't submit my petition during this time, its pretty much a job with all the responsibilities and well... you are also getting paid. I believe that as long as his internship currently paying enough to support both of you, you will be fine.

only if you were paid.

volunteer work doesn't count as "employment," but i figure it wouldn't hurt to list it.

Did you meet tax filing guidelines? Sound like you may need a sponsor if you did not earn enough.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.
