Late filing

Hello,

I became a permanent resident on 10/2008 and have not yet filed for naturalization. Many deaths in family among other things. I realize I was supposed to file 90 days prior to "continuous residence". What to do now??

US citizenship is not mandatory, you can file anytime once you've met the requirements to file. Nothing to worry about.

It sounds like there's a possibility you might be confusing naturalization with the removal of conditions. Did you get a 2-year (conditional) green card or a 10-year green card? If it was a 2-year green card and you haven't filed I-751 to remove the conditions, you could be in trouble.

Can you confirm you are talking about citizenship, and not removal of conditions (ROC)? What is the expiry date on your greencard?

If you're talking about naturalisation, there is no date you HAVE to file by. Just when the window opens. So file whenever you want, or never. up to you.

If you're talking about ROC... that's a whole other problem.
