salam everyone!! hope everyone that celebrates EID had a great holiday and may all your prayers be answered and for those that do not celebrate hope you are having an amazing week/weekend!! I am finishing up the organization of my k-1 application to front load it but was curious as to whether i should file as soon as possible or if waiting till the beginning of the year would be better as i know they will close for holidays and whatnot. i know either wai will definitely be a patient battle but didnt know if anyone had any thoughts regarding the timeframes and whatnot. thank you for your input in advance and if any hate or judgmental posts are done i will remove or report them..... :-)

You're seriously considering self delaying yourself for 3 months????

Well, think about it this way - if it's all ready to go and you put it in now, you could be looking at an NOA2 around say, April/May (estimating on the long side), if you factor in the wait for the holidays - or you could be lucky and get your NOA2 around February/March if they speed up.

If you wait until January to apply, you may get your NOA2 in April/May if you're super lucky, or you may (probably) have to wait a little longer.

So, in my opinion, if it's ready to go, you might as well put it in now.

My fiance and I were engaged in November, and we were hoping to put the application in, in December. We didn't end up finishing all we had to do in the time that we were together, so we had to wait til my next visit in February to put it in - and we dealt with the VSC backlog. So our NOA2 was in August. If we were able to put it in back in December, we likely would have had an earlier NOA2 for the simple reason that most of the time, they do go in sequential order (at least vaguely by month, not actually specifically by case number or day received)

If you have everything ready to send your papers now, then you should send it now. Why keep waiting then? That the USCIS takes a few days off for holidays has nothing to do with you filing now or in 3 months.

Make sure you have EVERYTHING they request in the forms, proofs and send your papers as soon as you are ready to go. Don't delay your stuffs just for the holidays or whatever. Unfortunately this battle involves waiting

Good luck!

The best filing month is the month that you file. If your petition and evidence is accurate, thorough, and complete…. SUBMIT IT !

Good luck on your visa journey.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

Based on my conversations with our attorney, you're best to file either before mid-November (like right now) or after the first week or two of January, if you're looking to not get set aside in favor of other visa types. Late in the year, and leading up to the start of spring semester of school, the offices tend to get inundated with student visa applications. That said, it depends on how many other visas are filed around the time you file, and every year's different. Since there's no way to really know, I'd recommend filing as soon as you possibly can. Even if it took longer, you'd still probably finish earlier by filing sooner than you would by waiting another two months. By the way, :ot:... the offer for in-person help still stands if you feel like making your way up to my neck of the woods B-). And if not, I may be down your way for a half-marathon around V-Day.
