hi there me and my fiance are just waiting on are NOA2 and hopefuly shouldnt be much longer, but i have been a little worried about the proof of finance. she goes to school and works full time and is border line on the recomendation of finance about 14,000 a year but dosent really have any substantial savings. were as i should have saved about 10-14 thousand in saving before my interview in london.

i was wondering about a co-signer, her mum is on high disability but im not sure if we could use her as a sponsor because of not working?, my grandad is quiet well off and could more then easily sponsor us and is willing i was just wandering if he could? as hes not american and british.

the whole assets and finance support is getting really confusing, so if anyone could help shine a bit of light on it, on whats the best things to do and prepair. is greatly appretiated

thanks ryan :) x

The financial component is based on the poverty guidelines. You can view the 2012 guidelines here: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

If it's just the two of you, then your fiancée would need to earn a minimum of $18,912 annually. The co-sponsor has to be a US citizen, so your grandfather will not be able to serve as a co-sponsor.

If you go the self-sponsor route, which is an option for London, then you would need to provide documentation on your savings. Is that 10-14 thousand dollars or pounds? If it's dollars, that will not be enough. You should have at least the $18,912 to match the guidelines. Does your fiancée have a family member who could serve as your sponsor?

You can read more about the support requirements on the embassy site: http://london.usembassy.gov/faffidavit.html
