My fiance is wondering if it is okay to get Cenomar (Certificate of not having been married) while we are waiting on the petition to return. Well we are only one month in, but neither of us appreciate the waiting game and would like to do something to increase the speed of the process in the mean time. If anyone has any input it would be appreciated.

CENOMAR is only valid for 6months. As your interview schedule w/ the US Embassy nears, Ive read here on VJ that Filipino pre-screeners always ask for a fresh copy of CENOMAR..

NBI clearance has 1 yr validity

Hope this helps!

Although both the CENOMAR and NBI have expiration dates, it's best to wait until just prior to your interview date. The USEM likes to see issue dates that are "fresh" to remove doubts of any recent changes. About the time the NVC sends your case to the Embassy would be optimal.

Get CENOMAR and an NBI clearances closer to the interview...maybe one month before the interview. The expiration of those documents is immaterial because the Embassy likely will want a fresh ones.
