some problems in documents for interview.

ok, so I still havent scheduled my interview yet because my fiance havent sent me the documents required for her. it got some problem so i hope you guys can help me with this...

the thing is, my fiance belongs to the 2nd family of his father who lived in the US, she was petitioned before but she used the surname of her mother upon arriving the US lands.

when she got naturalized, she changed her surname and used the surname of his father.

the problem that arose because of this was, some documents she had got the surname of her mother, and some got the surname of her father.

my questions:

1. would it be ok if she just writes a letter of authority (stating that it was her before naturalization) and attach it to every corresponding document or we would need some letter of attorney or would she really need to have every document changed to fit her new surname?

2. our NOA2 is due to expire in december 2012. would we still have enough time to schedule our appointment? im assuming we can beat the deadline as long as we scheduled it before it expires (meaning we can schedule december then my interview is january) or should our interview fall before the deadline?

please, please help me...we are in a desperate situation right now. :(

1. I don't think you'll need any letter authorizing her name changed. Naturalization Certification should reflect the new name now and any supporting documents should match also (passport, W2 or tax transcripts). I could be wrong on this one but see what the experts will say.

2. You might want to book an interview now as they're filling up fast. Just send all required docs through DHL, FedEx or LBC.

Good luck!!

I'm not an expert, but I agree with Tintin and Mike. I don't think your fiancée needs to write a letter explaining her name change. I think her passport, naturalization certificate, and her income tax returns will explain everything.

I wouldn't worry about your approved petition expiring because the USEM routinely revalidates petitions for another four months. If you book an interview appointment which falls after the expiration date, it's not going to be a problem. I agree with Tintin and Mike, book an interview as soon as possible because the Embassy has been busy and the interview dates fill up fast.
