My fiancées mother will be co-sponsoring our petition as my fiancée is still a college student. We have just received our NOA2 so I'm starting to compile what I need for the Embassy interview.

My co-sponsor has filed several affidavits in the past for both immigrant and non-immigrant visas as well as visa petitions (family-based). My question is, is there any authority etc that can be contacted to find out the details of previously filed affidavits and visa petitions? They were a long time ago (over ten years) and I'm not sure if she will remember how many as well as the dates filed.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure that they accept co-sponsers in a fiance visa. Because I was once reading someone's interview experience & it said that the lady interviewing her told her I can't give you a visa because we don't accept co-sponsers on K1 visas. I think I read this experience on Visa Journey. So please make sure of it by calling NVC. They'll give you an accurate answer. Best of luck :)

Acceptance of co-sponsors for the K-1 varies by embassy/consulate. London does accept co-sponsors.

OP, is your mother still in touch with the people she co-sponsored? That would be one way to find out.

And if she sponsored them on an I-864 for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status she needs to find out if they

  • Left the US
  • Died
  • Became US citizens, or
  • Have paid into Social Security for 10 years.

Otherwise, she is still responsible..

Thanks for all your help people. I have actually spoken to her and after a bit of talk it actually turns out no Affidavits of Support have ever been filed by her. I believe the confusion has arisen because she has filed several character references for visitors on B-2 visas which she may have confused as Affidavits rather than Affidavits of Support.
