Is CSC going slow?

Plan for at least 5 months regardless of which service center you are at. If you keep some distant focus, it will keep your expectations from letting you down. I was an April filer at VSC. When I filed, VSC was on top approving many here at around 4-4.5 months consistently. I went ahead and focused on the 5 months because that was the "average" at the time. I just got approved yesterday due to the continuous lag that began just shortly after I filed. Fortunately, I didn't get too down emotionally until this week because I psyched myself for the previous months. It helps. Be optimistic yet realistic. These two service centers do wax and wane so who knows what tomorrow brings?

I honestly think it should be balanced csc and vsc.......totally not fair the huge difference in time....but you definitely have to keep busy busy busy.......lets just continue to pray...

Got our NOA2 yesterday after 113 days (California Service Center), so we didn't quite make the average 70 - 80 days reported from June / July filers. Wonder why that is, but at least we finally completed the first step about 6 weeks earlier than the anticipated 5 months at the time of filing the I-129F :)

Its very surprising how everyone seems to think CSC moves so dam fast for everyone. To wait 3,4 or even 5 months is nothing when you are nearing eight months from CSC and we should all be so lucky. To be honest CSC and VSC move as fast as they want with particular petitions.

Well i dont know how fast CSC are but i'm waiting since my NOA 1 on 25 June 2012 to get an answer from them and looking online on their website it says last updated on 25 June 2012 which means they haven't even touched our file . :crying: But on the other hand looking at the time lines here I see that people with a Noa 1 in July got their NOA2 in the past days . It's kinda frustrating not having an answer while others who filed after you get approved. It doesn't makes sense to me why they put some people behind and others ahead ??? It makes me think they other lost our petition or who knows what since i read today that some adjudicators take their work with them home ???? :help: Anyone with an idea over what's going on ???

Nobody can give you all the variables of why some get approved before others, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind. First, every case is different. That says a lot actually. Second, background checks. Sometimes they get hits. Sometimes there is a need for further background checks. Third, adjudicators are working at different paces, and some are faster than others. These variables I know, but I do sympathize with you on the notion.

*** Thread moved from K-1 Progress to USCIS Service Centers forum -- topic pertains to CSC operations. ***

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

At the beginning of this year VSC was approving in just over 3 months and CSC took about 5. They've both changed. Both will change again, every few months. Adjudicators will be moved from one type of visa to another. Things will slow down and speed up, seemingly at random. I'm CSC so I'm hoping for under 90 days. However I'm planning for 5 months, and anticipating that it could be longer to get my NOA2. Just because you are in CSC and they are currently going faster, don't count your chickens. They could pull all or most adjudicators off of K-1s for awhile to focus on other visas and it could get difficult if you are too much focused on getting your NOA2 in 70-80 days. 6 months ago K-1 NOA2s from CSC were taking about 150 days...

As I said, I'm hoping for a short process, but I am planning on 5 months. It could certainly be more. And if an RFE comes I'll have to take it in stride.

Worrying won't speed up the process. You can either have it takes the time it takes and stress, or have it take the time it takes and focus on other things. My fiancee is still working and I'm focusing on other hobbies and goals so we keep our mind distracted from the process. It doesn't make it easier, but at least we are doing something beneficial while we wait.

Good luck!

Thanks for the explanation. My Fiancee Petition was just routed to Vermont today. Reading most of these post made it sound like I will be waiting forever, since it is not the California Service Center. I'm glad to hear that Vermont isn't always the one behind, with the longest wait. :)
