Well, USCIS sent the entire package back. They insist that my K2 stepdaughter must pay biometrics. They ignored the fact that she is now a US citizen. I attached a letter explaining her adoption, a copy of the adoption decree, and a copy of her US passport. Waiting for tier 2 now and p1ssed.

Dang, that's harsh... -1 for USCIS/ICE/Obama/Romney

Tier 2 just wanted to play games. She said to resubmit and not even tell them about my K2 daughter. Her point was that Des is a US citizen and USCIS should not even be involved at this point. I have an infopass appointment on Thursday in Atlanta. At least there I will have a live person to yell at.

Bottom line is that my wifes green card expires in four weeks, and I hope Atlanta can extend it.

Hi again friends,

Received the ASC Appointment Notice (I-797C, Notice of Action) in the mail today.

Biometrics scheduled for Nov. 27, 2012.

I'm thinking about changing it though, since the appointment time sort of conflicts with an important work meeting.

I suppose I could miss my important work meeting and go to the originally scheduled ASC appointment instead.

Do you guys have any advice/thoughts?

Also, USCIS talks about the so-called "paperwork reduction act," but isn't that completely bogus? To request an appointment change, you need to:

(i) Send original to Alexandra ASC

(ii) Send copy to Vermont (where I filed the 751)

(iii) Bring another copy to the new appointment notice, when I do receive it

So that's 3 pieces of paper, 2 envelopes, and time/gas/resources/effort...

Could've all been easily resolved with a simple online scheduling system, setup some SQL scripts... or even just use google enterprise solutions.

You can always try doing a walk in at your convenience. A few ppl at various asc offices have done this successfully. trying to reschedule through uscis might be problematic and difficult to do and put you on an even longer waiting list. i'd just go for a quick walk in if you can.

I read the responses in your separate thread, and I agree with Vanessa&Tony. If I were in your position, I would probably skip the meeting and go to the scheduled appointment. Just be honest with your boss and see if you can get some vacation time (precious, I know, but immi stuff is important).

I took my husband in for biometrics today. We only have one car, so I had to take some vacation time to go. It was empty when we got there for our 3 PM appointment. Anyone who is thinking of attempting a walk-in, I recommend going at the end of the day, like 3 PM. We had a morning appointment for AOS, and it was much more crowded at that time.

Question: I can't remember if they kept our biometrics appointment notice for AOS or if they gave it back. This time, they gave it back to us, and I'm not sure that's normal! For those of you who took biometrics already, did you get yours back?

Hi leenie... When i went for my biometrics for aos they did give me back my appt letter and i still have it actually... Its neat coz my bio for my aos is the same date as my bio for roc (except for the year of course lol)...

I read the responses in your separate thread, and I agree with Vanessa&Tony. If I were in your position, I would probably skip the meeting and go to the scheduled appointment. Just be honest with your boss and see if you can get some vacation time (precious, I know, but immi stuff is important).

I took my husband in for biometrics today. We only have one car, so I had to take some vacation time to go. It was empty when we got there for our 3 PM appointment. Anyone who is thinking of attempting a walk-in, I recommend going at the end of the day, like 3 PM. We had a morning appointment for AOS, and it was much more crowded at that time.

Question: I can't remember if they kept our biometrics appointment notice for AOS or if they gave it back. This time, they gave it back to us, and I'm not sure that's normal! For those of you who took biometrics already, did you get yours back?

My husband took me to my biometrics appointment in July on his lunch break, and we were in and out in about 10-15 min and it was close to our house/ his work.

Like catsy, I also got my biometrics appointment letter back for AOS and ROC. :)
