Does anyone here have experience filing in Argentina as third-country filers (neither beneficiary nor petitioner are Argentines)? I'm asking on behalf of a friend. US citizen petitioner and Salvadoran beneficiary have recently relocated there and would like to file for an IR1 in Argentina. They would send the petition to the Chicago lockbox and then ideally get their case sent to Buenos Aires. Does anyone know what kinds of requirements BA has for interviewing there? For example, how much time on a resident visa, etc.?

Long story short, we have a complicated case. We've been at this for nearly 5 years. You can read our story here. I highly recommend our attorney Laurel Scott, as well as attorneys Laura Fernandez and Lizz Cannon .

Filed I-130 via CSC in Feb 2008. Petition approved June 2008. Consular interview in Mexico, Oct 2008, visa denied, INA 212a6cii. We allege improper application of the law in this case.

2012, started over in Seoul: I-130 filed DCF on 7/2, I-130 approved 8/8, Medical at Yonsei Severance 11/20, IR1 appointment in November 2012.

Have your friend send an email requesting this information to the embassy at buenosaires-iv@state.gov

They should get back to them in around 15 days or so.

Relationship and I-130 Process

Sometime in October, 2011: We met online talking about Argentina.
Later in October: Met in person in Philadelphia and became good friends.
March 4, 2012: Became girlfriend and boyfriend, officially.
March 21: Gloria leaves the US at the end of her J-1 Visa.
April 9: Got engaged!
May 12-26: Chris visits Buenos Aires.
May 18: Got married in Argentina :) Happy day!!
May 29: Sent out I-130
June 4: NOA1 received.
August 17-20: Chris visits again.
September 22-29: Chris 3rd visit, Gloria's birthday!
November 11-January 5: Chris stays in Argentina almost 2 months, Gloria is happy!
December 28: NOA2 YAY!!!
December 31: Package received at NVC.
January 18, 2013: Got case # and IIN.
February 6: Case complete!!
February 11: Interview assigned.
February 25: Package received at Embassy in Buenos Aires.
March 18: Interview Approved!!
March 28: Visa received.
March 29: Houston POE

April 11: received greencard!!!!!!!

January 9, 2015: sent out form I-751

I only know of K1 filers on a USC-Bolivia-Argentina combo. For that process, the beneficiary had no obstacles that I am aware of and her K1 was granted. In this case the Bolivian citizen had been an Argentine resident for, at least, 20 years; so there was no mention of time when it came to her residency.
