Hello,

My husband already has job Interviews scheduled in his field of work. I do know for a fact that K1 VISA holders are eligible for a Social Security card; And we must adjust our status and apply for his Green Card. But in the meantime, will a job hire him with a K1 VISA or will they make him wait for the Green Card? Thanks...

K-1 is a visa, it is void the second he enters the US as it is a single entry visa

It is not a work visa, it is not work authorized

He cannot legally work in the US, and a company will not pay him (see the restructions on the I-9) until he has a work authorization document OR a green card

Good luck

He will have to wait til you do the AOS. Because with out the EAD he is not legally able to work. From what I have read the ss card they issue before AOS states something about it not being for employment. And he will need to show ss card or bc or something to verify he is legally able to work. BC being if he was an USC.

Only legally allowed to work after he receives his work authorization and/or green card. If he receives his work authorization and his AOS is denied they revoke his work authorization.

He needs to adjust his status first...a k1 visa just allow him to enter legally to the US and marry his US petitioner. Once he entered the k1 visa is useless. He can get his SSN right away but without an EAD the SSN will have a big sign saying "NOT ALLOW TO WORK" ....after you submmit his AoS usually takes 65 days or more on getting his EAD...I filed for my AOS on July 19 and now Im getting it
